Stage 1 should make plenty of opportunities for crosswinds, a perfect course for that.

Stage 2 is what you would call "hilly", though I'm quite dissapointed. Plenty of possibilities are missed for a much harder route. This is near my daily training grounds, I could mention at least 10-15 harder climbs just next to the course, all of whom are missed :(

You could. You know, if we completely redefined the concept of "hilly". ;)

I think the opening two stages will be enough to convince the World Champion to attend and keep all the sprinters happy before the serious stuff starts.

Wow. Those early stages... seriously suck. But it's too late to just watch Asturias or Frankfurt instead and too early to watch California, Belgium or anything else. Which other races are on in early May?

Dunkerque.

I hope you enjoy the race threads for it; would be awful to see you obliged to post about how little you're enjoying a stage you didn't expect to enjoy, in the Giro thread.

How is an 8.7km stage a prologue? Its up to 8km is it not?

And Hernig is in Denmark not Italy, so the chances of them holding special elections that limit police that make the stage shorter are, unlikely.

How about "bumpy" then? ;)

Now then, still I don't understand the organizers. They missed a clear and fine opportunity for a very selective stage 2, one could call it a "petite AGR". I mean when they're in THAT landscape, then why not grab out and fill the basket with a bunch of beautiful and tough small, steep "Vlaandern/Limburg-like" climbs?...... hmmm don't they know of them

What kind of climbs do you have there?

Although I'm not living in Jutland, I do know that only ~20 km west of Horsens there's Grejsdalen, a valley with steep sides regularly used in the Vejle stage. You could have a few challenging-ish ascents there, instead of those laps in Horsens.
There's also more around Ejer Bavnehøj/Yding Skovhøj, although that would be so early in the stage it wouldn't have much of an impact.
But basically, the area around Horsens is probably the hilliest in the whole of Denmark, so this (especially the flat circuits that practically ensure a bunch sprint) is a bit underwhelming.

A heck of a bunch of small, steep climbs. E.g. a oneday race for motionists called "Grejsdalsløbet" gives you the picture:
http://climbs.dk/grejsdalslobet_2008_200_km.htm
Since 2008 the following climb has been added with the finish line for the 203k course on top of it:
http://climbs.dk/gl_kongevej-chr_winthersvej_kongebakken.php (max 24%).

A lot more climbs in that league could be added further north to the course around Horsens, e.g. an exiting climb called "Purhøj" :
http://climbs.dk/purhoj.php
Its not the climb itself (45 vertical meters, avg. 13,6%, max 22%) its the fact that the route continues on rough gravel for 800meters. That could make some interesting racing.

Now instead the organizers have left the race with big roads and "longer" climbs of avg. 3-4%. Not that funny - all those opportunities are just missed :(

That's not a rumour, that's some wishful thinking from a mentally sick poster...

ROFL This was a good one :D

Edit:
Stage 5 seems to be confirmed as Modena - Urbino.
Stage 6 Fano - Porto Sant'Elpidio
Stage 15 Busto Arsizio - Piani Resinelli. I maintain there must be something between Cervinia and this stage, though no one talks about it.
Stage 16 will finish in Falzes.
Updating first post... Updated!

I really liked the tt to Urbino in 2008. I hope they use the same ramp as stage finish again.

I want you all to note that the chance of stage 5 and 6 being bunch sprints is really small. Stage 5 will almost surely be an uphill sprint (and a pretty long stage)...
Stage 6 simply cannot go along the coast... it would be something like 90 kms long. So they have to go inside (the terrain is the same of the stage to Castelfidardo of this year).
btw, stage 16 could have the Terento near the finish.

:)

anyway a massive Mountain ITT is needed in cycling, something a la Briançon-Sestriere, or that one Indurain won in sestriere.

Not just steep ITT but massive 50-60 km mountain TT. That's my wish

According to a local newspaper

Stage 16: Limone Sul Garda - Falzes

With the Terento at 10 kms to the finishing line.
