No, this one must be. Stages with a decent after a hard climb often give a lot of action. Im not satisfied with non Dolomites part of the Giro. The Cervinia looks like the Montevergine. It seems real mountains will start even later than in the TdF. Do you really like this route?
I really don't think Cervinia will be the only climb of the day. Near it there are a lot of tough climbs.

I put Tuttosport's rumours in the first post. I added the (supposed) type of the stage.

Are there only 4 MTF's, one of which is the 2nd Categogy Cervinia?

There were four MTFs in the 2008 race (the medium mountain finish at Pescocostanzo, Alpe di Pampeago, Passo Fedaia and the medium mountain finish at Monte Pora) and that didn't suffer (though it admittedly also had the Kronplatz ITT).

No I don't like this route, but it has more to do with the lack of proper ITT kms. And I agree with you that the real action might come too late.

In that sense, the leaked TdF route is much more to my liking.

But let's wait for the official presentation, perhaps we get a pleasant surprise.

The only thing I dislike about recent Giro parcours is the lack of ITT kilometers (2009 being the exception of course).
They should have made the Milan ITT longer and have an ITT instead of the TTT in Verona and we'd have a much better parcours.
I wonder if Frank Schleck at least will grow a pair and try for this? I can't see Bruyneel allowing Andy a go.

One mountain time trial, a prologue and a 55km time trial would have been perfect. I like mountain time trials a lot, so that's the only thing I'm going to miss this year.

Better than that TDF shambles, but it would be almost impossible to produce a Giro as bad.
Having said that, I'm not very impressed.
2012 set to be a bit of a barren GT year.
Still, there's always the limpics.

What's so bad about this Giro?

The Tour will probably suck and the Vuelta always sucks, but at least there's hope with this Giro route.

I only know the Danish stages that are flat :p

Someone with better Italian geography skills should come and answer that question.

Don't get me wrong. It's nowhere as shite as Le Tour, plus I expect a few nasty surprises will turn up where least expected.
However, a couple of those "mtfs" would be more at home in it's French counterpart.

There will be more gaps on Tonnale Aprica Mortirolo Stelvio than in the entire TDF;)

So, no Strade Bianche stage finishing in Siena? :(

The Cervinia stage will only have the final MTF and nothing before that... no San Pantaleon... shame.

By contrast, the one the day after that, Busto Arsizio-Pian dei Resinelli will probably feature some climbs of the Lecco area before the final climb.
