Guys, why do you regret about the lack of the TT's? Simply enjoy watching this as a discipline? Or any GT must include 70+km of ITT? Anyway, all the Giro contenders would be approximately equally not good at TT... Even Nibali got weaker doing the Giro... :)

Man I would love to descend off the Stelvio.

Yeah those switch back descents are really fun. If you lose your bottle or overcook a corner they stop being fun quick :p

Forgive my ignorance but which side of the Stelvio are they doing?

In theory, more TT kilometres leads to the pure climbers losing more time, meaning that they have to attack more in the mountains to get time back.

Hehe, OK. :) I doubt that for instance, Rodriguez or Gadret would dare to attack desperately, knowing about 50km ITT the following day though. :)

As far as I know, the pic shows the Prato side

I'm at the work now and can't acces google earth. Those are the last km's of the south climb. Maybe second half.

LE: or at least this is the sout side. Isn't that the one the will use next year? I'm sorry, I didn't check the profile of the stage. You may be right.

I can't now, either. But I'm positive that's the eastern side. Maybe someone can check...?
Edit. They're surely climbing the south side, no question

It's not about enjoying ITTs.

It's what valentius says, but more importantly, a Grand Tour is a race for the grown men, for the ultimate complete riders. A GT should test them in all terrains. When riding a bike, a cyclist will either go up, down or ride flat (climbing, descending and TT-ling [also cobbles, sterrato stages]). A stage race should reward riders who are able to stay on top after going through these tests. A GT in which only one or two of these strengths is significantly present is not worthy of calling himself a GT. It might call itself a Climbing Tour, and it might be exciting, fun and spectacular, but it most certainly won't be a Grand Tour.

Physically, too, most riders who are good at climbing and most riders who are good at TTling are of the opposite kind. Climbers are usually small, light, resistant. TTlers are usually big, heavy and powerful. GTs ought to be fair and give chances to both kind of riders to have success.

Of course the next Giro won't have many TTlist contenders. Go figure!

Just checked and I was right :p The pic shows the final part of the eastern side.

So, I'm going to make my bets regarding the Cervinia and Resinelli stages:

Cherasco-Cervinia with Colle Tzecore + Cervinia.

Busto Arsizio-Pian dei Resinelli with Dossena + Culmine di San Pietro + Pian dei Resinelli.

I hope I'm right, those are not shabby at all.

These seem the most likely routes indeed.
EDIT: A local newspaper says stage 14 will feature Col Du Joux instead... Hope not.

Contador will be at the presentation tomorow, even though he isnt riding the race.

I remember Basso never came last year though Menchov did 2 years ago.

And yet the stage gets a 5-star rating?

Unless the finish is somewhere above Cervinia on an unpaved road, I don't see how. But that won't happen, so...

My wishes:
riders looking at the Tour parcours saying: "**** it! I'm doing the Giro next year!"
F. Schleck, Scarponi, Gesink (maybe another young Rabo), Gadret, Anton, Nieve, Rujano, Purito, Basso, Intxausti, Vanendert, Rolland, Uran, Poels, Garzelli, Taaramae, Pozzovivo, Duarte...all decide to do the Giro instead:)

Taaramäe looked the TdF courses for the next year and said "fYeah!!". That's how he said it in the media anyways.

Can anyone remember how the Giro do this - will we get profiles for every stage, or just confirmation of start and end town on some?
