This Giau stage reminds me of Columbierre TDF stage in '09, so it should be awesome!

Being a Kloeden fan, im surprised you have such fond memories of that stage.

Good call!

But I don't let that individual disappointment cloud my judgement of a great parcours :D

Not a great region for Klodi; missed a possible stage win by that much in '04, missed a possible yellow jersey in '07, missed a possible Paris podium in '09...

After the first mountain stage in '07 Kloden would have worn yellow (with Cancerella cracking) if the peleton had kept Gerdamanns and some others in sight.

As it is Andreas has never worn yellow and most likely will never do so.

My fault. I tought you said about yellow to Paris. But a lot of if's in your comment.

Rumour: Stage 5 will start from Modena and arrive somewhere in Marche region. The stage should be flat.
edit: yesterday I forgot to mention that Gazzetta's article about Falzes - Cortina says it will be the first of FOUR consecutive mountain stages. Imho it's just a mistyping, although you never know...
RE EDIT: TWITTER
Today the first 3 stages of Giro d'Italia 2012 will be unveiled! Stay tuned for updates... #giro

Something around 9.6kms if I have the route right.

If its 9.6km, its not a prologue;)

According to a local newspaper, stage 12 will be Lucca - Sestri Levante
EDIT: Actually it says the day will be may, 16th... which should be stage 11. Maybe it's a mistake.

Another rumour... Stage 15 will start from Busto Arsizio.
This, added to the previous rumour posted, makes me think of a change of route...

WARNING:
From now on, the content of this post might be spectacularly wrong. :D

From Cervinia to Busto Arsizio there are about 170 kms. It would be a huge transfer, between two pretty tough mtfs. So I'm starting to think there will be a stage between them. Let's say... an ITT would fit perfectly here.
In this case we'd have:
Stage 11: Lucca - Sestri (The Abetone stage would be dropped)
Stage 12: ??? - Cherasco
Stage 13: Cervere - Cervinia
Stage 14: ITT
Stage 15: Busto Arsizio - Piani Resinelli.

I won't update the first post, since these are pure speculations.
