Looks like a good, balanced route. There are all kinds of stages with a nice first week to start and a very tough third week to decide the gc. I don't like the short mountain stages but there's enough climbing left and this years Vuelta proved that shorter stages with explosive finales can be very attractive.
Just hope the quality of the field will be better than this year. Pretty certain also that the Tour route won't top this when it's unveiled.

It reminds me of la Vuelta, yes. But I don't think that's a positive thing. In la Vuelta we barely saw some significant gaps between the top GC contenders.

Stage 3: S.t.

Stage 4: S.t.

Stage 6:
Jrod
Piti +10"
Alberto +19" (and that while suffering a cramp)

Stage 8 : S.t.

Stage 12:
Jrod
Alberto +08"
Piti +13"

Stage 14:
Jrod
Alberto +05"
Piti +13"

Stage 15: S.t.

Stage 16:
Jrod
Alberto +02"
Piti +19"

(Stage 17:
winner.gif

Alberto
Piti +06"
Jrod +02'38")

Stage 19:
Piti
Jrod s.t.
Alberto +03"

Stage 20:
Jrod
Piti +25"
Alberto +44"

Biggest gaps on stage 20, for the rest of the race the biggest gap was 19 seconds

The short stages from the 2013 Giro looks harder than this year's Vuelta. They made them short to avoid so much carnage and also to avoid the riders to be too tired to make any attacks. Reminds me of the Tour won by Cadel.

I really disliked the 2011 Tour route too. The tame racing in the Pyrenees made it end up being even more backloaded than expected.

I preferred the presentation last year. It was so awesome with Rujano looking 100 % badass, and Bert coming in last from above with the trophy. I also liked how they tried to re-brand him as 'El Matador'

I liked that the woman said Alberto looked great in a suit :) and yeah last year was totally better than this year

nibali's suit is 2 sizes too big

contador's suit is the prettier one but the the white shirt lacks personality

basso's suit is similar to nibali's and is also 1 size to big(the jacket) and the pants are 1 size too small... i wonder who fitted them lol he get's bonus points for the shirt tho.

phinney more jovial suit suits his age.

contador takes the better look award but just barely because of the white shirt. black suits with black tie and white shirt makes one look like a garçon/waitress.

surprising no1 thought about wearing a pink tie, major failure from them :p

contador's suit with basso's shirt (maybe a bit darker) and this tie = win.

Lol whole analysis about these suits.

well there are no more rumors to talk about as the route has been released and the discussion has moved to the rate thread so this thread has officially served it's purpose and will drop from the first page in the next few days so i don't see the problem with a bit of off topic silly discussion before this vanishes

Yeah i remember :D

Nicely put.

Did they give ryder any honours like that this year?.

And most.important question what was the giro recap vid like?

@ Hitch
The presentation was ****. It started with Bettini and a journo talking together in a studio all alone. Then we saw another studio where they presented the route, and then they called the riders up. There wasn't any presentation of the riders like last year. I also missed Scarponi in one of his ugly suits, and of course Rujano :p

Why do we have such a long final stage, and then 130 km mountain stages?

because 130 km mountainstages are intense. people fly in from the get go and is a bighger chance of favorites winning instead of a big break

people complaining about this course

wiggins stands no chance on this course, too much downhil and steep and high altitude climbs. not to mention an incredible third week and a first week in which you need to be strong and attentive with all the hills and downhils. the long flat itt is great and so is the mountan itt, although they could've made that one a lot harder imo. also great to see a ttt, but wish it was 15 km longer.
