Vino went through the teams in alphabetical order and told them all put one rider in the break, unfortunately the letter L isn't in the Kazakh alphabet.

Lotto fail?

My pick is Di Luca as well. If Pirazzi can keep it in his pants, he will be a good pick also.

I hope for Martens, Oss, Petrov or Puccio.

Cassani saying petrov is 7 minutes back in the gc, not 13.

Edit: ok he was wrong, 13 minutes confirmed.

Gretsch could very well go solo here, but if he doesn't have more than 1:30 at the climb, then a climber could catch him. But the climb looks too easy that a gap of a minute could be enough anyway.

Gretsch won't hold on. He looks awful and he doesn't even open the gap to the chasing groups which seems to be taking it easy. He will probably need at least 2 minutes at the bottom of the climb.

re. vajont dam disaster

'Throughout the summer of 1960, minor landslides and earth movements were noticed; however, instead of heeding these warning signs, the Italian government chose to sue the handful of journalists reporting the problems for "undermining the social order."
