I think this kind of stage finish could be much more interesting now - a real leg-killer for someone. Going hard for a couple of hours, followed by two hours of soft pedalling, then having to finish with a 30 minute all out effort can be tougher than a multi-mountain stage in some ways. Surely at least one of the contenders will have blocked legs - and maybe also riders haven't eaten properly during all the earlier action.

more than 4 hours of racing atleast. Unlike yesterday

Sunweb DS confirmed to RAI that Tom wasn't on a toilet break when they attacked. Heard with my ears.
Did they ask him in Italian, English or Dutch? Was there any ground for confusion on his part?

Would be a really entertaining spin to the controversy if the early breakaway riders bring up their view.

Tom Big Mouth looks cooked, but there is no more terrain to attack.
As if Nibali doesn't have a big mouth. Just because he won 4 gt's it seems condescending to look down on 2nd and 3rd place when Zakarin and Pinot would kill for those places. It's arrogant too.

It would be arrogance if he didn't win 4 GTs... but he did... so it's not arrogance...

Why would a four time Grand Tour winner care for a second or third place? Zakarin and Pinot have a **** palmares compared to Nibali, so obviously they would kill for those places. Your post really makes no sense.

Why would a four time GT winner even start when it is obvious he doesn't have it anymore.

He won the queen stage with lot's of class and is third in GC. Go troll somewhere else.

Yes good for him riding for the podium.

But I thought third was beneath the dignity of such an all conquering champion and not worth mentioning?

Asked in a very bad English, answered in a fairly good English. Re-asked for confirmation. Reply was very very clear. Tom was at the back of the peloton. No ground for confusion.

What did he say?

Quintana & Nibali have been consistent in this #Giro100 - between them they have attacked at every moment you're not supposed to #newschool

Wow, FDJ still has half the team there.
Probably the strongest team. As you have Reichenbach to close down Quintana.

Reichenbach is a monster when you consider he's doing that with Kirby hanging off his nutsack...

There's no issue about whether he was at the back of the peloton. The issue is whether he (and the other Dutchies) were back there because they were coming back from a natural break or not. There are conflicting reports on that.

I'm caught between hoping it's true because it's funny and hoping it's not because I would have to drastically reevaluate my opinion of a few riders I like downwards if they really did do it.
