I hate Froome. I really do. But his revival comes at the perfect moment. He is crazy enough to attack with 50k to go, and he'll need it. Him being in contention for the overall gives an extra dimension to the race.

I don't think Froome even needs a crazy attack actually. If he's suddenly the best climber in the race again, he's most likely the best TTer also, or at least second best. And if he takes a minute, minute and a half, off everyone but Dumoulin, he's absolutely in full contention again.

Froome only put 30 seconds into Dumoulin on a very hard climb. I don’t know if he can take back time on Dumoulin in the TT but even if he can he still needs to find another 2 minutes. He probably still needs another minute over Yates too.

Re: Giro 2018 stage 14:S.Vito Tagliamento-Monte Zoncolan 186

This is one of the most surprising recoveries in recent memory.
On stage 9 Froome lost 1:06 in 2kms and I thought at the time but maybe he bonked.
On stage 11 Froome & team sky again looked terrible and lost 40 seconds in a short ramped finish.

The scary thing for the other GC riders is that if he keeps getting better at this rate, he could take multiple minutes on final week stages. I wouldn't be surprised if he was Ill & injured last week.
But this is going to be one of the biggest confidence boosters of his career. Team Sky were probably considering taking him out of the race on stage 11.

Froome is a nice guy, but he has always been utterly ruthless. The rabbit story is incredibly revealing, but don't forget La Toussuire, how he fought for Team Sky Tour leadership in the spring of 2013 & also remember the guy literally says he thinks of how he's going to stick it to his rivals in training.

Also quick note, I don't think Froome has ever had enough credit. The guy used to be a terrible racer, but he's won downhill stages of the Tour. He used to be terrible in crosswinds, but he's attacked with Sagan at the highest level.
For the 2013,2015,2016 & 2017 tour wins people had Contador, or Quintana, or Nibali as favorites over Chris. And realistically he should have won the 2012 Tour and 2016 Vuelta. He's the greatest GT rider of this era and with that in mind, there is a chance he can win this Giro!!

Tom seems to do well in the Single big accents. Tbh he was worse than I expected, I thought he would win. But that said, he'll be more worried about the stages where he could be isolated after he takes pink post TT.

Tom and Aru are really struggling.

You'd think people know by now, still had 3 people fooled.

He was struggling, in fact I predicted he would lose time to Yates, but no big gaps (see my stage prediction).
Some guys were saying that Dumo would smash everybody in the Zoncolan stage, maybe you want to talk with them? :D

Froome and Simon are the big winners.
Tom and guys like Rohan and Bilbao limited the damage pretty well.
Aru and Formolo are the big loosers. Formolo has put on 2kg of muscle mass, so him being overall better, but weaker on such a steep climb makes sense, but still.
Pinot lost some time, I hoped that he'd gain a bit of time on Dumoulin, but he lost a few seconds.
Tomorrow could be total carnage.

Necessary reminder that Froome stole pet rabbits belonging to pre school children and fed them, alive, to a snake. Great guy.

How is that bad?

I just saw the stage. It was an exiting one in my opinion.

It looks like the Giro is just between 2 now. Last rest day was 3 for me. Now is between Yates and Dumo. They both look strong. Two things for the remaining of the Giro.

- Time trial is advantage Dumo. But if Yates pull something like he did in the Prologue He will be very close to victory.
- Dumo's will be vulnerable in the final week with his not so strong team. That is a big danger. Maybe a repeat of Vuelta 2015.

Yates looks like he stepped up a notch this year. I think is clear. At one point he was doing a Riis. Maybe he could have gone with Froome but was afraid of blowing up. Oh well. He'll have other opportunities this next week.

As a last comment I hope GT's stop backloading the mountain stages. Because many times by the time they get to the hard stages it will be too late for any riders. I think La Vuelta in the respect is the only one with an even distribution.

It's hard to believe that Dumoulin's time was seven seconds faster than Basso in 2010.
Wow. I wasn't expecting that. Having said that, they have similar weight anyway!

Actually thats sort of expected for me. The racing in the 2010 Giro was very hard, multiple stages were already a bloodbath by the zonc stage
Wasn't the Zoncolan like the 12th straight day before a rest day with carnage wherever possible? 2010 was a crazy Giro
