Magnier had some sort of gearing/chain issue with 900m to go and did very well to finish as close as he did. His form is coming it looks like.

There was a crash involving a Polti rider inside 3k to go so I think they just haven't updated it to reflect the cancelling of time gaps yet.
Only one rider crashed, and no other rider was affected at the time of the incidence, so per the Lex Rogla, the 3 km rule doesn't apply.

Gee and Carapaz gain 49", Caruso gains 20".

Derek Gee reigniting a GC bid due to an ice-rink tt and a weird sprint stage finish would be objectively hilarious, but I think they will end up caving.

Really does just look like a load of them assume it will be alright so sit up, rather than them actually being affected by the crash.

The GC group looked like they were sure the 3 km rule would apply, strolled the last km.

Maybe Carapaz was just the smartest one.

The real race happens when 90% of the riders don't even realise they're in a race, not in properly designed mountain stages or anything.

It's on them, race to the line, Richard Carapaz wasn't born yesterday

Yes, all GC riders racing to the line. Wonderful safety improvements in a sprint stage.

If Carapaz wins GC for a handful of seconds... oof.

Weak sprint field, Kooij a bit lucky Van Uden went early because it gave him the perfect finish after WVA was done.
Quality of the final riders in the mix was excellent, the difference was Wout getting the hole shot on last corner and stayed pinned against the logical barrier after hard sweeper, some riders surely touched the brakes or hesitation, ever so slightly to navigate the turn, sure you could see through most of the last third but Wout being able to look through the turn and just stay on full gas was a factor.
Being top five in final turn was equally as important as the sprint, Wout was one of the five, Kooij taking the other great position!! Decent sprint but fantastic execution. I expected more teams out of the saddle before the turn trying to get the hole shot, instead they waited. Wonderful Wout!!!

so where are all the people who were bitching about the 3km rule on stage 11 at the Tour last year now? surely this is unfair just like that was right?

Looks like only Arensman lost time but that too may be changed yet.

Edit : And it has been!

Del Toro acting like he was born yesterday, few bumps in final 5 or 6k, with pink jersey in the front, teammates behind, acting silly like he was going to sprint, only needed to stay in contact for same time designation, and Del Toro couldn't have thought that any GC rivals were going to mix it up in the sprint!! UAE did some semi dangerous moves in the end for nothing, climbers have no business in first 30 bikes coming around final turn, as long as you can see the taillights you get same time with fewer risks. Don't know what Tudor and Quickstep were thinking

I don't understand how carapaz moves up the GC when both Simon yates and p roglic are listed as same time as the winner in the results
