I didn't expect there to be a grand total of one leadout man left with 600 metres to go. That was an uncharacteristically awful job by most teams, all too scared of going too late so they all went too early.
On the plus side, that did limit the speed going into the final corner...

Has shown before that he's got a very good long sprint though, and is excellent at finding himself in the right position. One of the great leadout men, just missing a fast-man to finish it off.

Ok, I agree. It made no sense that they rode so fast at a time where you still had 2 kilometers to move up as long as you kept your teammates. On the other hand, if you‘re at the front as a team at 3k to go, there‘s no way that you can decide to go backwards and try again a kilometer later.

The issue was mostly the 5k straight road right before the decisive corner, not the fact that there was a corner.
Due to various circumstsances such as extremely technical finishes or wet conditions I can't get my head around the sprinters. Would like to see a finish where there is a non-technical last three kilometres
I think he might have been referring to the strength he showed, rather than the result. Wout does seem to be coming into his legs right now, which is nice to see.It was not
