Yep, Italy really needs someone. The first big GC talent from Italy since when? Aru?
Yeah, more or less. And while Aru was really good, he was never really that great and probably got better results than his talent justified considering the team he rode for. Those were great circumstances on those Astana-teams where he was treated like the chosen one.

I think we all know Pogacar can crush this when he wants. But there is that notion of “taking time while you can” in case case he has problems (like illness) later in race.

I think you can apply this logic only partly to Pogacar, because he can take time on so many occasions, he has to make choices. To take it easy after the TT seems pretty reasonable, also so climb wasn't that hard, so it be a lot of work for comparatively little gain, compared to what he'll get by default. He also wants to do the double, he better ride it smart.

So it was Pog team mates who asked him to go for the stage ?????????????
Emmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm ???
They worked hard and I think it is pretty custom that the team share the prize money amongst everyone. Of course, they want many stage-wins from Pog for many reasons.

Sagan was already established as popular. And with what Sagan did there's always gonna be this large amount of people gonna act like it's just normal enough and 'boys will be boys'
Sagan single-handedly ended the era of the podium girls..................no pun intended............

Pogacar wnat the win himself ...he didnt need to be persuaded as Martinele implied

Well he did say that he didn't think he'd win today and than Bjerg came back after the first KOM and said he was all in for hunting the break down. So sure he'll take the win when it's offered to him, but if he's not lying (why would he) he didn't ask them to do this, but the other way around.

DeMarche chose the wrong day to go into the break - Even if the break survived the stage is too hard for him. Tomorrow would have been a better option.

Normally he would cruise home, but Majka thought obviously he still had to ride. Pogi rockets to the line normally when the last teammate is done, but not today. Majka could have sprinted himself for the win!
I think Majka motioned to Pogi a few times like are you gonna go or what?

This still is unnecessary IMHO.

Pantani took time on the 3 big mountain stages (Dolomites, Pampeago, Montecampione) + a little effort at Piancavallo. Then, he took off easily at the 1998 Tour de France and only started investing efforts in the Pyrenees prior to flipping the whole race up towards Galibier & Les Deux Alpes! The pirate certainly took a little gamble to be fresh enough on those 3 + 2 +1 days he needed to perform. Constantly hanging around at the back off the field in the first week. Riding a pretty poor prologue TT etc.

Pogačar now wastes energy. Yes, his performance is totally reasonable to build up time just in case of mishap or illness later on. But with the Tour de France in mind you just need to gamble somewhere or at least not spend fuel so careless.

Unless he thinks that Visma won't open the big battle ahead of the Pyrenees themselves anyway, since Vingegaard won't be on his super peak either. Then, Teddy can start off a bit easier in France!

Are we sure you aren't Kristi Noem's burner account?
A good example of deranged views on pets. If you know how to handle a gun well, it's a completely fine way to kill an animal. Certainly no worse than how most animals are killed by humans (and how they get there).

Pretty impressive from one of our two favorite painkiller addicts, Alex Baudin in 10th. Decathlon boost must be insane.
should move them back to the front in the team classification. Like in the good old days with Gadret and Dupont.
