Very bizarre indeed, given the season is on relative wind down.
Possibly a bye-product of the "new" Tour of Beijing/Paris-Tours combo and riders calling it a day for the season?

Anyhow, looking on the bright side and having checked Rai's (R Sport 2) scheduling, it looks like Emilia will be covered live from 15-30CET, for the last 90 minutes.

Only 12 teams on the starlist for the Coppa Sabatini - bizarrely, no Liquigas.

No Liquigas, that is strange. They wouldn't win this (I'm assuming that Sagan wouldn't be down to race this after the Vuelta and Worlds), but it would be good preparation. There are profiles of the circuits at

http://www.coppasabatini.it/percorso.html

the heights for some reason seem to be written at the bottom. The final climb is just over 1k, average about 7%. Guess it's a good course for Rebellin.

Weird that Garmin aren't down for it either. You'd think they'd stick Martin into all of these races, given that they are in some of them.

WRT Liquigas, I checked the Paris Tours startlist and they are not racing there. Makes it all the stranger that they aren't doing Sabatini - maybe some kind of dispute with the organisers?

He's preparing for last races of the year, including Giro dell'Emilia and probably Giro di Lombardia as well.

exactly, but basso will never win lombardia.i've rewatched these days lombardia 2004:strongest basso you can get in a classic.he attacked and dropped the other favourites on every climb:ghisallo, civiglio and san fermo.and on the flats too:D but there is always a descent in lombardia for good old basso.he will never win it i'm sorry.

also check the names of favourite groups on ghisallo:
Basso(CSC),Caruso & Nozal (Liberty), Fertonani (Phonak), Boogerd (Rabobank), Rebellin (Gerolsteiner), Evans (T-Mobile), Casagrande (Vini Caldirola),Cunego & Mazzoleni (Saeco).

+0:15
Bettini (Quick.Step), Horner (Saunier Duval), Sosenka (Acqua e Sapone)(yes the hour record holder guy), Rasmussen (Rabobank), Frigo (Fassa Bortolo) and Nardello (T-Mobile).

insanely good race!

this year all the climbers especially basso will try to drop gilbert on valcava, that's the only chance.make a 15 man group and just omega will have to chase,it's possible.

Any Coppa Sabatini news?
The only news I can find is that there were some protests at the start because the race started in a dump.

It's not gonna grab headlines, but Lars Petter Nordhaug's 6th place is a good result for him.

Absolutely, he's not a good sprinter at all so he must've be in good form to finish right behind Gerrans. I wonder if Sky has renewed his contract yet, it would be a tragedy if he doesn't get a pro team for next year...

this has to be one of the most shocking wins by a youngster in the last years.
look at the top 10:
1) Enrico Battaglin (Colnago CSF/ Zalf Desiree Fior)
2) Davide Rebellin (Miche)
3) Daniel Moreno (Katusha)
4) Giovanni visconti (Farnese Vini)
5) Simon Gerrans (Team Sky)
6) Petter Nordhaug (Team Sky)
7) Stefan Schumacher (Miche)
8) David De La Fuente (Geox TMC)
9) Emanuele Sella (Androni Giocattoli CIPI)
10) Domenico Pozzovivo (Colnago CSF)

and it was also a very fast race.
can't wait to see battaglin in the big races

Also Uran thought he won Coppa but he mistook the number of laps to go ; /

“Rigo thought he’d won with a lap to go and he went across the race with his arms up but he put them down in a hurry!
