That's what happen often with riders coming from the Palazzago/Colnago U23 team; they usually ride/train like crazy and also have a dodgyt DS (cant remember his name now).

As for Popo he was nicknamed Eddy Merckx during his U23 seasons.

That's what happens when you're riding as many training kilometers at 20 (with the Clinicness to back it up) as any seasoned pro.

yeah for sure the ukranians used more doping than italians at zoccorinese, what a load of crap, it has to do with them physically maturing earlier. they all sued dope. examples galore.

You addressed the parenthetical remark but not the main point.

Pozzovivo will crush everyone in the mountains and lose about six minutes in the ITT again.

I think you might be right about Pozzo in the mountains. Good TT from him today.

I can't see Kloden clinging on to his GC lead. There's some tough mountain finishes. Scarponi for the GC.

So, Kloden's remarkable rich vein of form continues.
I wonder if the Italians will have any more success, pressurising him the mountains, than the Spanish and French did at their races.
In all honesty, I'm surprised to see Radio Shack here, given how low the Giro is on their totem pole.
I see Cofidis were expected, but hadn't actually confirmed.
Definitely Taaramae and Moncoutie terrain, too.

wow il dottor pozzovivo doing great itt's ...damn this is going to be an epic giro.if he is in a great form in may,i'll cheer for him against others that i also like.probably the nicest guy from the peloton, always quiet and shy but still a terrible good athlete.
of course that won't stop many posters manifest their hatred-paranoid-schizofrenic ideas about him...

I don't think Pozzovivo is a PhD but it's pretty impressive nevertheless.

With time bonuses and uphill finishes the GC should change quite a bit so not all is lost.

Somebody needs to work on the ITT skills with the Colombians. This is a repeat problem from the Cafe De Colombia team from the 80's.

On the other hand, they are free to attack all they want from the beginning (not that they were not going to do it anyway). :)

Some of the Colombia es Pasion guys did pretty decent TTs just a few days ago, in Castilla y Leon. I don't know if any of them are here though.

Surprisingly warm and sunny here in Lago di Garda country today with the morning calm winds which became strong after middday .
Rode behind Garzelli and Codol as they did a recci mid morning and enjoyed a chat with other racers with BMC and Radio Shack .

Check the blog for further details of today's events including the mixup at the podium .
