Very happy for Mas I must say. I mean he could use such a big win. It's not Lombardia he won, but this is a very hard race and he beat very good riders. Should be big for his confidence.

I only watched the final 5 km video but now I‘m really uncertain about who‘ll win Lombardia. Yes, Mas is looking great but can he do it at the big race as well? Pog realistically could just wait for a sprint and hope he‘s faster than a 42-year old and some other guys. It could play out like the 2019 race where a second-tier favorite sneaks away or like 2011 if a surprising rider climbs the strongest.

Nibali too. If he wouldn't have covered the others while teammate Visconti was up the road winning I guess he would have made up those 5 seconds to Roglic's time. But that was in a time long, long ago when the world was not going through a pandemic and living on the brink of a nuclear war.

He’s only 27. He should be reaching his peak in the next year.
The 2011 scenario feels like it looms large with so many big contenders absent (Roglic/Evenepoel), off form (Alaphillipe) or generally fatigued from the faraway worlds and tough season (Pogacar). If only we could identify the rider that might pull off a Zaugg we could make a small fortune at the bookies.
