He's not, I'm sorry but there's no way he saved energy by not following Aru and others, riders who he could easily follow when on form.

He might have felt he wasn't great and let them go rather than blow himself up, but there's no way he would've let them all go if he was good enough. Not to mention he tried to react to almost every single attack, and he failed each time.

Maybe astana can teach AC their secrets of recovery.

First, the Clinic is that way.

Second, it's not like it's just Astana. Contador is also getting dropped by Kruijswijk and Hesjedal. Clearly today is far more about Contador struggling than Landa/Aru being great.
