Ulissi from the break. Climbs too easy and to early for the GC guys to go full gas.

Hopefully I'm wrong and we get more great racing....

Chaves has used been in the break two days in a row, that is going to cost him as well.
On the other hand he didn't give a single pull neither today nor yesterday.

What a load of nonsense.
He really didn't pull that much.

Not sure if he will be there in the front tomorrow but I doubt it would be because of the two breakways.

I also won't be surprised to see the Pink Jersey trying to get in the break ... Only way Orica can hold it IMHO.

Break will form with guys who took it easy today and can climb a bit. Pirazzi for sure, Ulissi likely.
I doubt whether either Tinkoff or Astana will want to waste much energy in chasing if no-one dangerous is in the break.

Chaves gets pink tomorrow in OGEes "Ten Little Indians" game... Stage winner? Dont know, maybe Uran if he had just a bad day today, maybe Caruso...

After a crazy day, I think there is a very good chance that a break will stay away. Battaglin and Ulissi might fancy this. I'd say the final climb suits Ulissi more, due to the middle section.

I don't expect much of this, as I already stated in the preview. But as things stand, I can't rule anything out :p

Eh this climb isn't that bad, there's a part of 7-8km at 7,8%.

If i were astana i would force Contador in the jersey.

But Berto never loses the leader's jersey in a GT :p

I actually hope the break won't make it this time. They can get the rest of the stages in this week.

I've just found the perfect candidate for a stage like this: Leopold König.

He is one of the best finisseurs and could sneak away while the rivals are looking at each other.

Again a short stage. It could be interesting becouse some important riders losed time today and some teams will want to harm them more again.

The doubt if is Astana will take the command or will be Saxo, or maybe SKY at the end...the best domestique of SKY is much better in the second part and long stages, Nieve.

Saxo is acting as if he have the pink, so...

Aru will spread his wings and show the world his magnificent form, thus proving he's dead serious about winning Il Giro this year .........

Abetone looks like a perfect climb for me. And that unfortunately means - no major GC action. A dozen or two finishing together..
But the GC sorting out has begun and it will continue to shape up.

I haven't checked but surely no team has ever had four leaders in five days of a Grand Tour. Would be pretty cool to see Chaves take pink.

I agree, however it depends how hard its raced. If Porte goes mental I cant see Chavez being strong enough to follow.

I think this could go to the break. Not sure there's any team willing to control it and there's plenty of riders already very far in the GC, hence not dangerous.

Re: Giro d'Italia 2015: Stage 5: La Spezia – Abetone 152 kms

Should go to a break. No one will chase if it's not threatening.

Movistar and Lampre may be the only teams that have incentive for Visconti and Ulissi, but they will probably take their chances in the break.
