If Polanc is in form he should be able to hold on for a good stage win!

I hope so!

Why should Astana care for stage wins, they want to win the Giro. Tinkoff isn't riding either, because there is no Tinkoff rider in the break.

Today should be a day for Alberto, Short stage, nothing to say before last climb, a medium range climb...the only problem for him is the last part is too soft, but anyway is a perfect day for him to win the stage or put some time on his rivals.

Anyway nodody is going to win today the Giro.

Looks like today is sky day perhaps? TS reported a little worry because today is most likely porte will attack. Hope Contador has a good leg.

A stage win would put him in pink. Too soon for that. I think he will be happy if he can just follow Porte and Aru and have Kreuziger or Chaves in the group to take pink.

that's true. But they win confidence. Especially if Porte gains time on Contador. His head will go so big that people in the south hemisphere can see it :D

Yeah, don't want to get pink too early, otherwise your team might be forced to do some controllin', which would run counter to their current strategy of saving as much energy as possible by not controlling when not necessary.

Indeed, Polanc is a decent climber. Hope that a team will start to ride in the bunch soon, I prefer a battle with the GC riders for the stage.

It's not about the team, it's about Alberto not having the jersey. More interviews, more hassle (and more tests, I guess). I wouldn't be surprised to see Kreuziger in pink this week.

The risk of getting pink too early should be weighted against the possibility of riding in pink on Campinello Matese. This makes it even more lucrative to ride today.

If they got pink they would just surrender it tomorrow or the next day and not do any work in the peloton.

if his team is working as if he has the pink, what is the problem?. Alberto today will try to put time, if he dont get, he dont have the legs. It is a good day as well for Porte, and aru showed he is very strong. Rigo if is ok will try to show he is there and get more confidence. Chaves will try to get the pink, and he has a good chance.

There are chances that the break will make it today,Tvetcov should not miss this opportunity to grab the stage win.

Now, this is a classic GT stage.
You have time to cook a launch, answer the phone calls, even jump to the grocery store if you've forgotten something and still catch all the action.
Not like yesterday when you couldn't afford a blink to yourselves.

Last climb isn't nearly had enough to create any major gaps. If you have a baaaaaad day you might lose half a minute over the last 2 km, but nothing major will happen today.

I just can't see how teams like Bardiani don't set it up for Battaglin/Pirazzi/Bongiorno, Movistar for Visconti, CCC for Paterski, Nippo for Cunego all whom have a great chance to win the stage. Maybe Katusha for Zakarin.

20km of slight climbing before the climb, that's when the pace will be lifted. These teams are going to come to the front because it makes no sense that they didn't send someone up the road.
