I just want something like this... they're all possible and done before. Not even by Zomegnan.

But I suspect we'll get something like this:

Give me the Savoldelli stage with Sampeyre before Fauniera and it would be nearly perfect.
One year they really should give us the full 1995 Giro stage 19 that was shortened because of snow avalanches on the course and finished in Pontechianale.
It would be glorious:

Hm, I don't want another hard mtf. That would mean that could completely kill the action on the day before. Chianale isnt that hard but its also not the kind of mtf I like, because its really flat. I prefer the version with Madonna del Colletto although there is a long flat section at the end.

That's the point of it...

Anyway, I'll officially jump on the "Risoul is not stage 20" bandwagon. Pinerolo and Risoul as the two final GC stages of the Giro would make it the lamest end since 2009.

Is Col de Larche passable now or will it be by next May? If yes they could do a pretty straightforward stage Guillestre - Vars - Larche - Fauniera (south side) - Sampeyre - Valle Varaita (like Chianale). I would be happy with that.

"happy"? I would **** in my pants. Dunno about Larche now, but I think it'll be transitable come next May

yep, that looks epic. Have we seen anything harder in the last 5 years, in any gt? I am not even sure if Val di Fassa 2011 was harder

They'll start somewhere.
Ride 21 stages.
And end somewhere else, probably Milan, but maybe not.

However, as something completely new they'll have all stages the same day.

Santuario di Valmala has a sanctuary (obviously), a car park, the climb starts close to the village/small town of Sampeyre and has this profile:

If we're lucky it's short enough that in stage 20 especially it wouldn't turn people away from risking it earlier, but I suspect we're all being rather over-optimistic anyway.

Well the point is that almost everything you could put after a rissoul mtf on stage 19 seems kind of strange as a last giro mountain stage. Normally I would suggest Finestre, but thats obviously extremely unrealistic.
And even the possibilities you mentioned are either unrealistic or they would be really bad like a mtf on colle di tenda (I mean, I think its bad because there wouldnt be any climb directly before, maybe some of you would like it)

Nah, anything involving Fauniera would seem awesome, not strange. Everything else would be a dud, agreed.

Anyway, back to business.

Looks like there will be a stage finish in Roccaraso (kinda MTF...), in Abruzzo. It must be the stage between Montevergine and Foligno. Now, Montevergine and Catanzaro are pretty far apart, so having the MTF on stage 5 would imply that Catanzaro is a road stage. But there's always a TTT in the Giro, so they'll probably held it in Apeldoorn. If they do held it in Catanzaro, then Montevergine is stage 6 and we shift everything, dropping one stage that imho is the one to Follonica, as it is possible to go to Sestola directly after Foligno.

In the second week, the ITT is again rumoured to be the one to Cansiglio, but starting from Belluno. Asolo could take the finish of stage 10, while Jesolo the start of stage 11.

On September 8th they'll present a stage.

Since I have a free stage in the second week, I'll put the Livigno stage back in, even though I still don't believe in it. If they do it at all, it'll be stage 16 no doubt.

I just read the article about andalo and if google translate isnt completely broken it says:
-The riders will start in molveno, the day after the finish in andalo, but in your route there would be a rest day between these stages
- the dolomitic stage should be in the third week, and not in the second one.

Well I think the second point is kind of insignificant, while the first one makes me doubt if the livigno stage will really happen. Also because Livigno may be in lombardy but if someone says in the direction of the lombardy he definitely doesnt mean this part of italy.
I think your old route was more likely.

I think so too, but I don't have an alternative stage anyway, so I'll leave it like this for now.

In the last weeks there have been a few new rumours. Sadly, none of them is great, so don't get your hopes up.
The best of those is the confirmation that Risoul is in fact stage 19. And that stage 20 will finish somewhere in the Cuneo area. So the chance of seeing the Fauniera is actually quite high at this point, for the first time since I make these rumours threads :D
The Livigno stage is back in. Very reliable rumours claim it'll be stage 15. The same source says it'll be Tonale - Gavia - Foscagno. Not great, really, but we've seen worse.
Unfortunately, and this is my main concern, the Cansiglio TT has been dropped, and the rumours that the finish in Siusi will actually be a MTT are growing stronger by the day.
The stage to Cividale will start somewhere near Udine, will be quite short (~150 km) but a serious medium mountain stage, with the Matajur quite early in the stage, and the climb to Porzus as penultimate of the 5 GPM planned. It looks like this could be the stage they'll present in preview this year.
Farra d'Alpago, after losing the ITT, could host the start of the stage after Cividale, but it's unclear where this stage is going. Sappada is still possible but yet to be decided. Corvara is still there but I don't quite believe it, with a huge MTT looming.
Stage 16 could finish on the Ghisallo.
Montevergine is confirmed on stage 5, so Catanzaro must be road stage. This means that maybe the Apeldoorn TT could be a TTT instead,

Presumably they can't do the full Matajûr then, so assume they'll be doing Passo di Glevizza to fit that?

i'd wager that's the only option the organizers look into.

Sorry but thats lame. The downhill finish before two mtf's and the two mtf's both have flat sections before the real climb starts. At least we get Fauniera which is great

Ps: What climb is La Colletta?
