Doesn't matter if Bonette or Agnello, the stage will be cancelled or shortened once again. They learned nothing from the previous years.
if what they should learn is that they should never go above 2500m, I hope they'll never learn. The problem I have with this is that they're planning to go over 2500m at least three times.

Go big or go home!

I like that. Its a big gamble as people have mentioned, but sometimes, you gotta do something like that. If they indeed plan to do it on three separate occasions (or just on one stage?), they surely will have a plan B you would assume?
three stages... Ofc there would be a plan b for each, but they would be all quite underwhelming.

Risk/reward. If the reward is big enough (which it seems), the risk might be worth. Obviosuly they dont do this every year anyways

Exactly, that is the point: it's totally fine to include Stelvio, Gavia & co., but I would not dare to include a 2600-metre, a 2700-metre and a 2800-metre climb in the same Giro.

This was planned as stage 15. Stage 14 was Trento - Val Senales via Auna di Sopra, Passo di Pennes, Passo di Monte Giovo. 233k and 7:30h. Total carnage.

And what for a route...

wow! good old 90s monster stages! probably pantani helped to design the route there.
who here is mauro facoltosi?[/quote]

Mauro is not on this site. If you want to write or talk to him, you can ask me, 'cause I'm the vice-director of his site :D

Whats to meh about?
the length is not enough and it seems too climbers-friendly. Which is not good to my taste. It's a bit like the ITT in 2014.

edit: I'm not saying it's bad... it's just not good.

Got ya, but at least those are 50 combined of ITT (maybe more with a MTT, or is that out) and there isnt a starting TTT, so overall it seems fine to me. Cant always have that 60 kilometer ITT alltho it certainly is very nice. Landa and Chaves will be happy, but on the other hand, Aru isnt a time trialing god either.

yes, yes, everybody will be happy, everybody will make a decent tt and thus they will make it pointless.

Still better than the Vuelta and Tour, aint it?
better than the Tour, ofc. Definitely comparable to the Vuelta.

10 kilometers more and no stupid TTT, ill take it.

Nothing else to do than apply for the job!

I like it. If it is the only ITT of the race (except the prologue), it should be longer, but apart from that it's great. Wonderful scenery, too. And it should be quite technical as well.

This.

Do we know if it's going to be the only one?

There's the prologue (if they don't turn it into a TTT) and there could be the Siusi MTT. Which, it they do make it, will be a pure, rather short MTT.

Thanks. So, this is it. This is their "flat" ITT.

To quote myself:

I fear they'll take a look at the results, delude themselves into thinking Aru would have won without the ITT, and screw up next year's route.
What a shame. This is idiotic - this year's route was very good and they got the best GT since 2010, FFS. I'm more and more convinced that 90% of organizers and journos know ***-all about cycling.

Make it 99% of organizers and 100% of journos.

edit: for the organizers, maybe there is somebody who knows sth, but they clearly just don't care.

Meh, pretty much sums it up. Its not especially long, its not very difficult, it doesnt have any other special feature (like gravel roads, which was suggested here). I am happy that we at least get an ITT and they don't copy the tdf but there is just nothing which makes me looking forward to it.

Let's be real, we all knew that we'd get something like this after contador smashed everyone in the long ITT.
This one + a prologue is ok, not great but it could be much worse, it won't be as bad as the 2014 Giro that had a hilly ITT and a monster MTT.
