So on a scale of 1-100, how final is that route?

95? Minor traffic/construction changes, but climbs and distances pretty set?

A second question is, what are the odds of a weather neutralization/cancellation of certain elements? In terms of which high mountains are in which weather patterns?

I'm looking forward to it. It will be hit or miss, but the tension of whether it works is enough to keep me excited.

Ain't it a hidden fact they basically just did that already, once it became very clear Aru would focus on the Tour in 2016 and the originally designated route probably would favor Landa too much over Nibali!? At least it pretty much seems to be like that, based on earlier rumors and information from you.
Earlier rumours? I would say only Livigno has been dropped. How would that favor Landa too much? If you want Nibali to win, just put 20 kms more to the ITT and he wins. It's that simple. No need to drop Livigno or anything.
Anyway, what I meant is that in 1993, one week before the official presentation of the 1994 route Beppe Conti published the whole route on Tuttosport, and the race director of that time got so angry that in just one week he changed completely the order of the stages and even entire stages just to present a completely different route and show that Conti was wrong. :D
So, to answer the question by More Strides, I would say they WERE meant to be definitive. Since they got busted, I won't be surprised if they change some minor thing.

Oh, okay. That's a very funny anecdote to be honest. :D Would be funny if they'd do something similar again this time.

Wasn't it suggested that they probably would include more decisive cols (like Fedaia) at the stages and make the mtt harder to favor Aru over stronger gc-tt'ers like Contador was this year? It seems like they eventually included somehow easier cols once Nibali became their homeboy instead of Aru. At least that is/was my impression. That's why I was asking whether I'm right or wrong.

there was never any talk like that afaik, also because it was clear since at least a month or two that Nibali was gonna come to the Giro, and not Aru...

Are there any roadmaps that leaked out? Actually looks like they might go for the Nijmegen hills.

Gesink wants to target the Giro next year :)

Actually good to hear he wants to do that. Happy he doesn't go all in on the TdF, but he hasn't discussed it with team management yet.

He wants to do GC for the Giro and go stage hunting in the TdF. Great news imo! He has a better chance at winning the Giro... well at getting a podium then he has at the TdF.
Stage hunting at the TdF will be hard for him as he's not really a stage hunter, but that's because he never tried. Glad he's giving that a shot instead of another 6-10th place at the TdF.

They can still re-design the whole Giro just to surprise us, like they did for the famous Giro 1994 :D
But I don't think so...
Brullnux, the small bumb is probably just an effect of the connection between the finish and the start of the next stage.

Ain't it a hidden fact they basically just did that already, once it became very clear Aru would focus on the Tour in 2016 and the originally designated route probably would favor Landa too much over Nibali!? The Seiser Alm mtt ain't even the full climb if I'm correct!? It really looks like a pure entertainment gimmick, like you said. If Südtirol wanted a brutal mtt they better should've payed a huge check to force RCS to include Kronplatz, Schneiderwiesen, Würzjoch shouldn't they!?

It's still much better than anything (most) ASO designs for the Tour, ain't it!? :)

With the Giro it's always legitimated lamentation on a very high level, eventually.

Actually the route for 2016 as it stands looks pretty anemic be it the Giro, Tour or Vuelta. But I guess I am not of the "Tour sucks" hipster fans kind.

I always preferred the Giro, the pink jersey and the Dolomites / Südtirol since 2003! It has been the Giro that got me hooked so deep into cycling back in 2008 and made it my favorite sport even ahead of soccer! It's the only race that I'm eager on all year long. The Giro is the heart and the soul of my cycling passion! :)

For me that is PR, and to a lesser extent RVV. The Giro is easily my most anticipated GT every year though.

2 things I want to mention/ask:
1.) The stage to cividale de friuli has extremely technical descents. I'm really already looking forward to it because I love climbs on narrow roads in the middle of a wood.

2.) Mayo mentioned Mür dl Giat a few weeks ago. That climb would fit perfectly in the finale of stage 14 and its so small that you wouldn't be able to see it on the little profiles we've got until now. @Eshnar: Do you think its possible that it will be included in the final route?

I think it's almost sure actually. It has been included in the Maratona and I believe they'll use exactly the same route.

Sagan should be there too, I read somewhere.
It would be nice if he also raced the Giro one day :p
BTW, did anybody already mention that Pinot would like to race the Giro next year? Hope he really does.

Nibali will be there 99%, Sagan is thought to be coming to the Giro mainly because of the Olympics, but I don't think he said anything about it.
