Pozzovivo now a genuine threat for overall victory, he has nothing to lose now so I expect he'll attack over the next few days. Before today I felt Pozzo was (understandably) busy protecting 3rd place, but now he has an assured podium with a shot at victory.

Oof. Feel terrible for the lad.

Oh yeah, this is *** brutal. 2 minutes behind and still three hours or so in the saddle today alone; with a possible career-defining triumph having been so close...

For him it would be best to attack on Jafferau and/or Cervinia, can't risking completely blowing up. A podium means too much.

What the hell sky? How can they have five riders in that group? How?
Passion, dedication, strategy.

Yates almost 2 minutes down.

Sometimes I think this is as staged as wrestling.
I wonder if there is a chance of this being staged? At least some aspects of the race.

Yates the next Armstrong etc...
Another fine moment for the boffins on here, some of you really know how to pick em.

To be fair, no one saw him as the next anything, but you would have to have ESP to have foreseen that he would crack given his first two weeks.

Sanches cramps, or waiting?

Or you would have noticed that history suggests he struggles in the third week.

That seems overly broad -- this is only his 6th GT, and first two (14/15 tdf) were not as a team leader or even GC hopeful. So sample size of 3 (16 Vuelta, 17 Vuelta and TdF) doesn't seem all that representative.

At any rate, I was surprised he faded so much yesterday. I thought someone might steal a few seconds, but not half a minute...

They’ve not had much to do all race. And for most of these guys other than Froome and Poels they only have to make it to the top of the next climb and roll to the finish after.

Yeah exactly, but he'll likely have three minutes on fourth by the end of today. That's a lot of wiggle room

Lopez doing his Best Igor Anton "ride at the back of the group" impersonation.
De la Cruz dropped only Goncalves and Henao :) with his train.

There's still a lot of time to find on Dumoulin for either Pozz or Froome. Tom's the guy for the time being.
