I do feel bad for anyone who's dropped like that. Wonder if Pinot has some kind of gastro thing? It was like he hit a wall and started paper-boying immediately.

Probably was struggling for a while and just couldn't keep going anymore at one point.

"They've taken out of 30-40 seconds of the break's advantage in short order"

No. From Mohoric. The break has extended their lead.

Not enjoying this but kudos to Astana for trying.
You cant win if you dont try.
MAL will get atleast a podium now

Astana must be laughing themselves silly. Don't even set a high pace and the guy you need to beat to get onto the podium randomly blows up out of nowhere. Now just need to chill out and not let Carapaz jump them

This guy is just a mess.

What about illness? It's just obvious looking at the pictures.

If MAL or Carapaz ends on the podium I will be terribly sad about this Giro. Like a lot.
If Dumoulin doesn't make the mistake of allowing Pinots bike change and then waiting for Reichenbach constantly, he stays in the pink jersey because Carapaz & Lopez ride with him and Pinot ain't got no shot at the podium anyway.
Pinot had a bike change?

Movistar should absolutely go tongue front now and test Lopez. Astana will now try to control the race and nothing else. The only thing they realistically could still achieve was just achieved already

Dont think so. He fixed his bike himself I think.

Yeah, I swear it was like a ten second incident then he was fine again. Dumoulin didn't even slow down.

Pinot had a bike change?

Yesterday -- either a change or a rear flat.

It would have been interesting, for sure, but you can see why he didn't. 4/5 against one with 80km left? I liked those odds.

I won't necessarily be said if MAL podiums -- he's not my favorite rider but he showed crazy legs in the Vuelta. So if he podiums here it will show that he can ride a complete 3 week race, something that's eluded everyone so far except for Froome and Dumoulin (who were the putative favorites before the race...so if in the end the podium is CF, TD, MAL, it won't be any kind of surprise but rather what we all expected all along)

Have Movistar the number left to take it to Astana ?
Probably not, but then again not even trying in this situation would be stupid especially as Lopez didn't look that strong yesterday

Didn't he get some assistance from the neutral service car? At least he stepped off his bike after Dumoulin signaled him he would wait for him.

On the Zoncolan Froome consumed Aru's ability. Yesterday he absorbed Yates'.
Today it was Pinot, apparently.

You right staub. It burried their hopes..

There is still a debate between a puncture or a bike change. I still don't know what really happened to Pinot right before cresting Finestre

Pinot done, great!
Dumo should be next, Great Giro!

Out of curiousity why is this great and why would it be great if dumoulin was next? Seems like quite a negative approach toward watching cycling?
You know, they are so dangerous for Froome..
