Yates is looking really good, but honestly we have no idea how good he'll be in week 3.

Remember in the TDF he was 2' 02" behind after 16 stages, he ended up 6' 14" behind Froome.

He's a very young rider so it's very possible he's developed into a rider that can go the full 3 weeks, but it also seems like he might be peaking right now.

You'd think so but it might be his only GT this year...

Better to make excuses and pull out saying how devastated he is rather than ride on to finish outside top 3. A top 10 placing would be failure for multiple GT winner. At current form a top 20 would be a struggle.
