We'll see in the following stages, but I don't think any of the guys was good enough to really get a gap today, or they would've gone for it today.Great stage altogether. It was nice to see some gc action as well.
Really unfortunate for Fuglsang but I do have the feeling this won't matter in the longrun anyway. He looked like he was one of the weakest gc riders today on a stage that was supposed to suit him best. If he doesn't look strong here I simply have my doubts he will look any better in the high mountains. The one week stage racing specialist is running out of first week.
Yeah but the chance of a Giro podium is in reach and that may never come again
I am a big fan becasue he has one arm and is riding out of his skin
The way he came back today
He is an unbelievable fighter
Not riding his bike is one thing, but casually passing the finish line tells something about the guy mentality.
Being fresh and being less fresh changes Pozzo's maximum attacking W from 350 to 349.5WThe other GC riders were lucky Pozzo had bad luck and had to spend energy chasing back. He would have ripped them apart otherwise. How strong that guy is. Wow.
Also cool to see McNulty up there and Hindley is riding amazing.
Everybody was fooled... That's what the ticker said, too...
one of the weakest top 10 gcs in the last 10 years, maybe the weakest...
Kelderman and Almeida tried once and actually got a gap over Fuglsang and Nibali, who closed it by riding tempo. Don't think Kelderman was much stronger today but he did look a bit better than the other two, which is more worrying for Fuglsang than it is for Nibs. We'll see in the following stages, but I don't think any of the guys was good enough to really get a gap today, or they would've gone for it today.

Like everything else this year Sam beat him to the lineWelcome to the club of winners in all 3 GT's!
What happened to Birdsong. Did he get distracted checking out the trophy cabinet or something?
Jakob's luck was terrible. First he gets a flat--probably a slow flat that's tiring his legs. Then he has to wait about 30 seconds for a teammate who can give him a bike. Then he's not in a working group, and finally has to ride in with domestiques from all the other GC guys' teams just trailing him like anchors.Damn. I had the thought earlier today, when the commentators mentioned he was bopping on his bike to check if he had a puncture, that that would fit his GT history if it happened in the finale. Then when you guys said he probably didn't have it today, just before he punctured, I was thinking, hmm, what if he feels like something is wrong with his bike?
<I'm pretty sure he's got two arms. Or I can't count. >
One of his arms is all bandaged up ..he looks like quasimodo on a bike
The two minutes to Almeida are not the issue. They might become the issue if Almeida suddenly starts climbing like a gc contender, but as long as he performs like we expect it a top shape Fuglsang should gain minutes on him on every single mountain stage. The gap to Kelderman, Pozzo and Nibali is the issue. The experts are counting Fuglsang out now, both because of the puncture and because of today's slight signs of weakness. More than two minutes to Almeida, and two time trials remaining. I could add: his team is one of the weakest in the race.
Almeida got dropped in both Etna and Roccaraso, so his chances mostly depend on week 3 being cancelled, and even with that Piancavallo can be enough for him to lose the lead. The two minutes to Almeida are not the issue. Who the hell cares! The racing is great! I'll take this Giro over that *** show Tour de France any day!one of the weakest top 10 gcs in the last 10 years, maybe the weakest...
He will have to lose time in Saturday time trial first. Almeida is more than a decent time trialist, who has won 20s in 20 km course ahead of Mikkel Bjerg in the mini Giro. The two minutes to Almeida are not the issue.
