Rune Larsen, Fuglsang's former coach was in the Giro studio this afternoon and said that he had "calculated" how Fuglsang would gain three minutes on Pozzovivo on this stage. Will it even be three seconds?
"There are 3 time checks and a finish. He'll gain 45 seconds per interval. It is fact and reality will not interfere"

Like, Fuglsang performed worse than I expected as well, but that's just stupid

Well, he is, one of the few American talents that didn't get ruined by Axel.
It's not only on Axel I think. A few of their international riders turned out really good. This to me suggests that the US Junior programme might be part of the "problem" as they are also known to train big volumes there and have been having good juniors all over the last decade.
