For now Sunweb balanced team and individual goals nicely but I am still not sold on them not increasing the likelihood for Tao to win the overall with their tactic today.

Anyway, nice win by Hindley.

He rode a sensible final climb and obviously didn’t want to get mugged by Hindley and ship big time by going deep.

Agreed, he did what he needed to do, but really not any more than that. I'm pretty sure he would sleep more comfortably in pink tonight.

Obviously Hindley didn't have to cooperate with Geoghegan Hart, but it was just stupid that he didn't attack him in the last 2-3 km or so. It would have been the best option for Sunweb and even for Kelderman.

OK, let's say they gain enough on Kelderman for him to drop to 3rd, while Hart wins the stage and takes the lead. You'd be telling us all how stupid Sunweb were...
No. Attacking Hart is different from gaining time on Kelderman. It's actually disrupting Hart's effort thus helping Kelderman in the process. At least that's my opinion.

Anyway Almeida still 7th in the end, it only looks bad because he was pink jersey and lost 5min but this is a great result that I wouldn't expect before the Giro started.

There’s a difference between working with Hart and attacking him then immediately sitting on if he closes. Hindley did not ride to put himself into top favourite position if Kelderman dies entirely, he prioritised the stage.

I feel like Hindley not trying to distance Geoghegan Hart is a monumentally stupid (non-)move.

You're the best climber today, but you do nothing with it except sprinting for no time gaps.
Kelderman's still in the big picture. If the situation is the same at Sestriere I'm sure we'll see fireworks

I think so to. Hard to predict how much he could have gapped if (if any), but I find it hard to believe he wouldnt have taken at least 20 seconds, but its impossible to know..

Unless he was cooked, Hindley should have tried to drop hart, overall that would have led to a lesser speed by constantly changing rythm, thus helping kelderman. Also maybe hart would have dropped 30 sec.
