Interesting that key lieutenants for Yates in Haig and Hamilton have withdrawn from the RR - Whether it's a case of Mitchelton putting the foot down which is unlikely or dissension in the ranks is anyone's guess.

I really don't get this bad startlist thing.

Actually, this year Giro will have the best sprinting field for a GT with Demare, Gaviria, Ewan. For me Demare and Ackermann are the most in-form sprinters at the moment so having one of them in the race will be really good. Then we have riders like Sagan and Matthews who are great riders and will probably see a lot of TV time.
And in terms of GC we have Yates, Thomas, Nibali, Fuglsang and Kruijsiwjk as A riders. Imo all of them could've podiumed this year TdF if they would've ride it. And about domestiques? Mitchelton will bring for Yates their best 2 doms in Haig and Hamilton. Astana will send Vlasov who is probably their best mountain dom right now and he can actually do a good GC for himself. Also the addition of Lopez will strength their team greatly. Nibali if Ciccone will be recovered will also have a great dom and Sky team with Sosa, Tao and Dunbar has really good potential. Basically, only Krujiswijk will be without a real lieutenant but that's because Jumbo put all their eggs into TdF.

Finally, I'm really curios to see what team is Sky sending. If they will come with something for Thomas like Sosa, Tao, Dunbar, Narvaez, Dennis, Puccio, Ganna I expect them to try and control it from the very first day. Still I expect one of the climbers to be saved for the Vuelta(Tao maybe) and not sure if Dennis is confirmed or not.

On paper they are yes. But a Fuglsang hasn't delivered yet in a GC, and given his age i doubt he ever will. He seems to have established himself more as a one day race-specialist these days. Kruiswijk will not arrive in his best form at the start due to his shoulder injury. He still isn't painfree yet according to himself: https://www.telegraaf.nl/sport/1555...ijk-als-kopman-naar-giro-het-ziet-er-goed-uit

I would be surprised to see Bernal at the Giro. Surely from his perspective it makes more sense to go to the Vuelta? That would give him some more recovery time.
Not sure what Ineos’ team will look like but suspect it will be something like-

Thomas
Sosa
Tao G-Hart
Henao
Dennis
Ganna
Puccio
Dunbar (if recovered)

On paper that looks a strong well balanced team.

If Bernal is only healthy enough to be a support rider than he shouldn't be riding at all. Geraint's support looks strong enough as it is anyway, particularly when compared to other teams.

Oof, that looks way too strong for my liking. Have to hope Thomas is sh*t now

They may have to. They'll have it after the first stage, and Ganna will probably have enough of a margin to be able to limit his losses enough on the finishing climb of Stage 2 to retain the jersey. After Etna, someone may nab a few seconds and the bonus, but G's TT margin will likely mean he's in pink at that point. And knowing Sky, they probably won't want to gift it away.

Castroviejo is riding, they sent him home from the tour to recupurate. Hart will be @ la Vuelta I tought. Amador is also a possibility for Giro.

Androni have made public their selection. No room for Miguel Eduardo Flórez who - in Argentina - proved to be a much better rider than Remco (;)).

He has really not found that level since the break.

Almeida just postet that he'll ride the Giro. I was hoping for him to be the best helper of Remco in the mountains but now he may actually be allowed to ride for himself. Either way, great that he made it in his first year as a pro. :)

I'm italian but i do not disagree, just wanna let you know that androni has probably the best pro conti lineup in this Giro, the Bardiani's one is incredibly weak there are 5-6 riders i've never heard about so the situation is pretty critical

It's not even about the strength of the team, I for one also often find myself rooting for the Italian pro conti teams. It's just that they have this slightly amateurish flair, stuff like their jerseys clustered with small sponsors, to which this poster just really fits
