Winning 3+ stages for a GC rider is dominance.

Nowadays, there is no need. Vuelta is becoming much more important.

Giau also wasn't the last climb of the day that year. But what a monster of a climb that was, this stage wasn't even that hard, but the climb before Giau was great and thinned the peloton out and soon they went into Giau, it was a 10 man peloton. The climb was great, the riders rode really well today, but RCS and RAI decided to take that joy away very quickly.

Taking a real beating might be better for him in the long run. Now please don't send him to the Vuelta, shorter stage races and one day races during the 2nd part of the season is the way to go.
