That was more like closing down that move, I think, and signalling that they will do that to any move. Their general pace allows Caleb Ewan to chill out in the group, so I don't think it really impresses any would-be attackers.
That's the balance. Going as slow as possible while staying in control.

But neither the break nor DSM want the break to win today.

They are delivering another stage win to Pogacar? Eheheh

If they do that today (and it very much looks like it), they should do it on the other two stages he could win as well. I mean, he could equals Merckx in stage wins in a single GT, and they seem to care about him winning a lot of stages.

What a joke man. If you care about stage win you have to put your best climbers and some support up the road. It is inexcusable to ride for stage win from the peloton. P*ss weak break again that gets 1 minute gap at most and then Pogacar drops them all.

And they will cry that Pogacar wins too much after not bothering to put their riders in the break

Despite not being known as a brutal race director, I'll give Vegni top marks for his Godfather voice and mannerisms. Perfect for the boss of the Giro.

I can't understand a word Vengi is saying, but getting the thrust of what he's saying from his magisterial old man Italian hand gestures.

It is not about draft... can you rembember how important was Martinez to Bernal in those high slopes in the 2021 Giro? It is very important to have someone with you in the dark moments, even of you are climbing the Angliru

Pogačar still haunted by the scary eyes of Marc Soler from the Col de La Loze stage.

Obviously RCS are not very good at public comms, or designing contracts, but the CPA seem to be really annoying. The CPA guy on RAI yesterday also didn't deny that they had agreed with RCS plans to then later go back and write open letters against the plans.

Proper loser ride from DSM, couldn't get in the breakaway so lets stuff up everyone elses chances, at least get Bardet close enough then bridge rather than mow it down completely.
Well, Caruso didn't want to ride with Bardet in the valley, so I think he deserves to be reeled in.

Flobikes did an interview with Hansen yesterday, where he basically said that the organizers could have presented whatever they wanted, their answer was "no"

Wonder if there's someone caught in the split
No Piganzoli in the favourites group. Easy to spot as there are no red shorts there. With the rain jackets it's quite hard to tell if anybody else is missing from the teams with darker jerseys/shorts.

Okay, Bardet said he wants to win the stage before the start. And that a Top 5 result would be good. So now we know, they gamble on Pogi not following.

This seems to not be true, though, and it seems they said yes to Monday's plans and then Tuesday's Livigno ride, before then saying no. That's according to Paolo Bellino and Vegni, and Cristian Salvato (CPA) didn't deny it.
