Os course if Bardet doesnt attack now they are giving to Poggo another stage, if he wants...Maybe they are looking for someone weakmess, but you have to attack for that.

Bardet will attack, I'm quite sure of that. Only GC guy who has grinta. I just don't understand why his team wasted all their energy on this irrelevant mid stage climb just to then sit up again.

It's not programmed.
Don't be silly
Giro is long, you have to hold your bullets.

He's saving himself to attack backwards later
Thomas doesn't know how to ride without a wheel on his front. That's the problem of the wheelsuckers.
When has he ever attacked? A lame-ass Roglic type of acceleration is all he used to do and he can't even do that now. Arrensman should attack G long range for 3rd place. It would make the race interesting.
I know Thomas has not attacked once in his life but it is my job as the forum Socrates to ask difficult questions

How can a 38 year old tour winner doing his last ever GC, who already has a giro podium, not just say 'f*ck it I've got nothing to lose' and try something

That's the type of riders who will never be missed. I hope very soon he ends his career. He is a disgrace for cycling. Riders like this, make me miss Alberto Contador and i wasn't even a fan of him! At the least, he never cared about 2nd places.

That river is beautiful
This whole stage is what I've come to expect from the Giro, just nothing but pristine mountain scenery. And the only crowds you see are the people who live in the cute little mountain villages they pass through... ach, es ist schoen.

I mean come on, I am not a fan of Thomas, but clearly the man has mostly been riding to his abilities. I think he should try to attack if he can, but it's quite rational not to blow up your 3rd place for no reason. It's not that he can attack Pogi.

It's just not on this race. Thomas always has been riding on this style. There was a lot of situations he could had done way more in the past.

Fortunately guys like Pogacar, Remco and Vingegaard appeared since 2020, otherwise we would get until today this "BS of cycling" that guys like Thomas do.

At least he could let Arensman go.

Ineos with a sneaky tactics, yesterday they sacrificed Thomas for him to slip to third in GC, as now they have both Thomas and Arensman in the game, to try to crack Dani and to move up to second place in GC.

Ben Swift leading the peloton towards the final climb only 2 minutes behind testa della corsa tells the tale of a somewhat underwhelming stage.

DSM’s tactics today have been truly bizarre. Not so much riding on the front, but driving it to catch the break so early and then sitting up, and then coming back and drilling it again only to sit up again.

I agree he could or should be more agressive, but that also doesn't seem to be exactly his strength, so I just think it's unfair to call him a disgrace just because he's trying to get the most out of what he can do and doesn't fancy trying stuff that's not so suited to him. I mean I dislike it as well, but it's not disgracefull it's just boring, okay sometimes negative racing.
