Giro d'Italia Giro d'Italia 2025 Route: Speculation, Rumours and Announcements

A shame that they've elected not to throw in one of the hills near Vlorë on stage 3 (there's a 2.4k at 9.4% climb right there), but this is still fairly good and therefore insanely good by RCS foreign Grande Partenza standards.
Yes it's disappointing, I knew of that climb and it would've made a great little circuit at the end of the stage. That said, stage 1 is much better than I expected so can't complain too much.

Evenepoel seems unlikely because he has announced a full Ardennes schedule already and because Roglic is the one doing the Giro promo vids so you'd assume he's getting the Giro Bag.

He can easily be back in shape in May I'd think, but most of the focus seems to be on the Tour.

Will they take a sprinter to the Giro?
I don´t think so. It seems it will be a full dedicated team for GC with Roglic, DFM, Hindley, Tratnik, Aleotti and Sobrero (according to some X users ) with Pelizzari as first reserve, so I think the other two spot will go to riders like Denz, Moscon, Van Dijkes, Koch, Maciejuk or Mullen.

On the other hand for the Tour Van Poppel and Meeus are in the long list according to recents interviews.

I've been disappointed with the lack of opportunities for Welsford honestly. His early season form was really good and for me deserved at least the Giro last year. Pithie probably a chance though given he'd probably work for Roglic on the flat and wouldn't need much support for opportunities by himself.

DVP is really a lead out rider honestly, never seen him as a finisher

Welsford started very well, but the truth is that it began to disappoint before being left out of the Giro.
This is what Van Poppel himself considers in an interview a few days ago, who felt frustrated at not being able to do his job properly because Sam was not good enough in most of the races, insinuating that he was not exactly the hardest working cyclist, but in this preseason he has seen a change in him and is once again confident that he will perform.
We'll see, my personal opinion is that Welsford was mentally thinking much more about Paris 2024 than about the road and that this year he can be much better. Even so, due to their limitations as cyclists in the races in which Roglic (or another leader) go with the intention of competing for a high result, he have less room than Pithie (due to his versatility) or even Meeus who can do something on the flat and little hills. I don't know if Sam better speed would compensate in terms of results for his lack of resistance and ability to climb in a Giro or Tour.
