Did everyone forget about the 2022 Vuelta or why is everyone so surprised about Pedersen on this finish?
No, but arguably 2022 Pedersen would not have made the top 10 today, he is better uphill than ever before.

What picture are you guys talking about? With my settings I'm not seeing one...Keep the picture!!!
Thus part 1 of the prophecy was fulfilled.Roglic to write another episode in the "washed" story arc with the definitive death of Roglstomp before the appearance of the myth that shall first appear on Finestre that shall be RogloBasso
Got 2nd on a longer hill top finish that day only beaten by an actual pre-Hamilton RoglstompNo, but arguably 2022 Pedersen would not have made the top 10 today, he is better uphill than ever before.
In the last Giro he won he was far from impressive as well. Apart from that one time trial. So yeah, on Finestre a lot is still possible. Meanwhile Del Toro is acting like Simon Yates before his infamous collapse on Finestre...Thus part 1 of the prophecy was fulfilled.
There is nothing that can be done now. Tis an inevitability
That would be living far from reality. We know if Ayuso wins this Giro he is going to daddy Matxin to demand to co-lead with Pogacar in TdF 2026 despite Pogacar being levels above him. Will be a Lance/Contador moment.
This type of finish is very peculiar and specific, especially if it's full gas from the bottom and the actual sprint is on a steep gradient too. It becomes this weird 1 minute interval where you completely explode if it's too long. Similar to Rodez in the Tour, which has had shockingly big gaps for being essentially a 1 minute climb.Carapaz and Pidcock both looked completely cooked 300 m from the line. Kind of weak performance.
Yes, but tbf alot of other GC riders also underperformed compared to expectations, like Ayuso, Ciccone and S. Yates. Maybe the arrive was not so hard as to favour them over puncheur, but others like Tiberi overperformed.Carapaz and Pidcock both looked completely cooked 300 m from the line. Kind of weak performance.
Well he's much better naturally at this sort of effort than nearly every GC contender. If he's healthy and hasn't trained all his medium fast twitch fibers into the ground I'd always expect him to be at least s.t. with Pedersen, if not winning outright.Roglic actually looked really strong and effortless on the final stretch. Other GC contenders not so much and they had to empty their tanks.
The last time the Giro was here, an old Gilbert long past his best puncheur days deleted all the GC riders in slow, heavy conditions.Yes, but tbf alot of other GC riders also underperformed compared to expectations, like Ayuso, Ciccone and S. Yes, sort of, but Rémy Rochas actually entered the final stretch behind him and then finished quite clearly ahead of him. And in no world should Roglič lose to Rémy Rochas on this finish.Roglic actually looked really strong and effortless on the final stretch. Other GC contenders not so much and they had to empty their tanks.
He's not sprinting, but he seems comfortable and moving around easily on the climbs. Not sure I'm seeing the same thing. There's really no one here who is good enough in the mountains to clearly be superior.Roglic aint winning this Giro. Looks super mediocre outside of the time trials, and that part is over
What has Hindley got to do with UAE, Ayuso and Pogacar? That would be living far from reality.
Hindley has won the Giro and he couldn't possibly ask Pogacar for co-leadership.
The DS aren't stupid; winning the Giro doesn't mean being at the level of the Tour de France winner, or even at the level of the second at TDF.
And Ayuso, no matter how much he talks, is aware that this is a different level. He knows that Pogacar would have fought for victory today and would have caught Van Aert and Del Toro on Sunday.
Ayuso, Ciccone, Pidcock and Carapaz are all quite punchy, so I think it was justified to expect a decent result of them. Definitively not a pure climber finish, but it's still peculiar that all of them finished behind Tiberi and Bernal that are not really explosive. The last time the Giro was here, an old Gilbert long past his best puncheur days deleted all the GC riders in slow, heavy conditions.
Why people favored GC riders without any sprinting cred is beyond me.
I'm sitting here trying to work out how a Bora rider would be asking to be co-leader with a rider from UAEThat would be living far from reality.

Today he spent energy helping Ayuso when INEOS attacked. How has Adam yates lost time? What is he doing?
Gee is notably getting better and better through the race. By the time we actually have proper stages (Tuesday) he will be the strongest
