I am looking forward to your positive "rants" in favor of del Toro later today.
Strange happenings last year, Del Toro's mother and close family friends traveled to see him race Vuelta because of extraordinary special circumstances.. Can't imagine what this must feel like.. And is it optimistic or pessimistic to think this is a once in a lifetime thing.. Sure looks like he is comfortable racing in front at the biggest races!!! Don't know if there is a pattern, 1st year Vuelta, 2nd he starts Giro.. Can only hope TDF is in 3rd year schedule!! Kid is racing lights out.!!!
UAE was like a blanket covering everyone who felt frisky!!!
The effort by Carlos Verona was absolutely self torture to super human level.. Guy showed some real depth!! Took gamble and rode into history!!

I think Carapaz and Bernal will be aggressive, but it will be very hard to beat del Toro, he looks amazing so far.

while i would have called all along for Bernal and Carapaz to be aggressive from far out...but i think given del Toro is so strong they need to pick their moments to attack and not be too knackered out throwing the kitchen sink at it

There is still Yates, Tiberi, and Gee ...not sure if I can see any of these pulling a gap but they may be of help to others attacks. Yates is in a great position but no sure how strong he is

Ayuso is difficult to read ...hasnt looked top but who knows

I don't understand why I still listen to lrcp after every stage. It was a ton better when they waited 2 hours or more until airing after a stage.

Well, I do not think they should like attack from 75 km out everyday, but I think there will be enough action to prevent a last km sprint. Bernal specifically is so far back that it will have to attack to get near the podium. I think he can do it, but for the win the only one I see realistically challenge Del Toro is Carapaz, unless the mexican has a bad days, then things are more open.

If you like positive racing watching Bernal, Gee and crushing Carapaz try to jump is awesome!! Attacking , win or lose is better in my opinion than wheel suck strategy..
Shame that Roglic's motor looks blown, it was fun imagining that he was saving his juice to boldly blast passed everyone and establish his once dominant swagger.. Doesn't look to be..and now if he tries any Hail Mary moves, UAE has 3,4 guys ready to grab his seat post for tow job!!
And with Ayuso staying in contact, if Del Toro falters, UAE has competent backup.. Del Toro surprise position has taken pressure off of Yates, McNulty, Majka riding like a new man!! Igor kept it respectable today few minutes back..Jay Vine picked up 2 bags of cement in his jersey, lost a bunch, but doesn't mean good days are not coming in final week, team can send him.. If for no other reason than a try..

If you are watching Del Toro's manners, there is a little man on both shoulders whispering in both ears, all day and night " this is real, this is not a dream or a drill, don't *** it up!! " he looks like the anti hero up there!! Bernal and Carapaz have to be a little disappointed that Del Toro can tail their best moves sitting in the saddle just rolling it over. His cadence looks fresh and fast.. Impressive so far that's for sure!! And Del Toro had some female fans holding cardboard signs saying " take me to Mexico " that's gotta help a guy's ego!!

wow, the top 10 is still within 4 mins of each other.

When the 3 aliens do not race, everything is very close. Little difference between the riders
It helps that the first really selective mountain stage will only come on Tuesday. We‘ll see more gaps after that I reckon.

3rd week this 3rd week that but Toro still has the best body language, looks freshest out of all GC. His lead would've been bigger if his team rides for him instead of Ayuso.

CV! I love it when a racer just says F it, I'm going 180 all day!
Once Ciccone was KO'd in the crash they let Verona off the leash, apparently everyone grossly underestimated the size of fight in the dog!! Will toss around for a few hours, why his wife and 2 daughters were there from Spain....? Like I say over and over I love risky riders!! Guy won as a long shot!!
Reference.. Carlos Verona has been a pro since 2011, today was second career win, last one was 2022.. Del Toro, 3 wins in first season..

won't take that long to get gaps in the TDF. Didn't last year either.

The aliens use the terrain they are provided. The Galiber and Puy Mary stages caused large gaps

These guys just prefer to wait and ride for their top 10

Partly right. However a very heavy backloaded parcours doesn't help the matter.

I will just put this out there!!
I went full Taylor Swift, 60s Beatles, idol worship in the opinion of a couple of thread weavers here.
I brought up things I observed that I considered special milestones for Isaac Del Toro.. Including entering into fan boy zone by putting his name in, Best names in the peloton thread.

I can hear heads exploding..brings me sweet salvation to see Isaac Del Toro deliver on all the hope and promise he was showing from day he swung his leg over the bike in Australia January 13th 2024!!
Sweet revenge for the wet blankets that said I was puffing up a sub par neo pro..
The wet blankets, Debbie Downers know who they are!!
Hail, hail to great racers and great racing!! Nay sayers be dammmmmmd.

Another impressive stage by the Real Bull! An unknown quantity over the three weeks tho...we'll see. Certainly Bernal looks better with each passing day which I just love. If he keeps going like this the dream of seeing Bernal on the podium is slowly coming true.
Fingers crossed!

Also sorry papi Rogla, time is a curse for everyone and catches you sneaking unseen.

he won't look too amazing if he has to keep shutting down attacks from Bernal, Gee, Tiberi, Carapaz, Yates.
