What a ride by Rogla.
Ayuso slightly underwelming, but the Giro is still long.
Bernal with the worst time between the arguable GC contender made me a bit sad, but hopefully he has better legs uphill and he can try something in the next stages

The start times for the last 15 and being in a former communist country did indicate that it might be a TTT.
They had a chance to be an acceptable venue for a TTT but the statues of Lenin have long since been removed from Skanderbeg Square, although they did reappear in a government villa courtyard a few years ago.

Congrats to Josh Tarling and Primoz Roglic.

Seems like a huge ride by Roglic who started 46 minutes after Tarling during a rising headwind and only lost by 1 second. Confirms he is in great form just as he looks and also like he said when asked this week. Can't wait to see him climb.

Special mention to Jay Vine, good ride by him too.

Huge improvement, though I'm sure some of the 6 minutes was down to him not really trying last year. I remember he was very ill in the first/second week, too. But still, it's a performance which I wasn't expecting, he's more well-rounded than I thought.

Rubio only lost 55 seconds towards Roglic today.

Can he capitalize from that shape or is he just going to archive an anonymous 7th-9th at the general classification by only losing a bit here and there!?

Jefferson Cepeda with a really strong ride, squeezing in between the Yateses in 27th, only losing 33 seconds. I didn't know he could TT decently.

didn't we talk about exactly that before Gran Camino?

Where he turned out to deliver a horrible performance, though.

Don’t know if it was seen on live images but just saw a video of Hayter riding a long time going closer to an inattentive police motard. In the 2nd part. When he was closing in on another rider where the motard was riding behind. He even had to brake and wait to choose a side to go by while they almost collided.

Explains why his 2nd half split was so fast.

Was just checking the times you posted. If I find the video again I’ll post it. Didn’t think he would gain so much more time but it was fast forwarded untill he got them.

A minute!?!

Have you even seen Ayuso TT before?
Actually, no. Can't get relevant updates from any media on Giro here until a day later. Then it's highlights that show almost nothing.
I have seen him get shelled by Primoz at the last Catalunya stage but that wasn't a TT.

Wasn't the absolutely only evidence of a semblance of TT capabilities the Ecuadorian nationals which, with all due respect, should count for nothing?

I would hate to ride that hot monstrosity, though. Seems like you could get claustrophobic. Not to mention what your kids would say about the "look" for years to come.

Sure, but it's like a Formula 1 car, it's only made for competition - nobody is buying those to ride around as a civilian - unless they are craaaaazy :p

I came on here last night and everyone and his uncle were saying Tarling cant win and course is not good for him, bla bla bla And I listened to that

I think we have seen that Tarling is getting better all the time

As for GC Rog looks like he will be hard to shift from the top spot already..

The 3 top UAE at present will have to try something like Jumbo did to Pog a few years ago in the Tour and of course they have Yates and Vine too to try and inflict some pain

Also not sure what we can see from the yates bothers who are still in this race

Other than that maybe some young one will take a step up like Poole or Tiberi

Congratulations to Joshua Michael Tarling for winning the ITT.

Was a good battle and although Rogla didn't win the stage i feel that in the overall picture this was just fantastic performance. Most of the GC opponents didn't lose that much time, still the difference was in the end rather substantial.
