I'll say it again:

Vacek was designated by the team to go for the win today.

As long as that was feasible he stayed out front, and when it wan't he dropped back to Ciccone.

He did exactly what the team wanted him to do.
First the team car should’ve told him before the attack that “sorry dude, you will only kill yourself by bridging 45 seconds, you’ll have to settle for domestique role today”

Second, he should’ve dropped back to Ciccone much earlier that he actually did. There was a significant period where he was dropped but still rode with Bernal.

I fully understand that the plan before the stage was to give him a chance, but the way the stage turned out it was obvious that him attacking to try to chase back wasn’t going to work. Weak from the team car.

Roglic's result isn't as bad as it could´ve been.
UAE kept him alive. He could´ve lost 3-4 minutes if Yates and McNulty had sacrificed themselves. Both lost little time today because they didn't work as hard as they could have.

Just hard to take serious not saying he didnt have incentive to pull cause he didnt. Del Toro isnt a GC treath stop kididng yourself.

Not objecting Van Aert deserve it cause im glad for him too, but saying Del toro didnt dserve to win is just lol and hard to take serious at that stage.

Of course he is a GC threat. You certainly can't be sure that he isn't.

Van Aert had zero incentive to pull, Yates behind and he needs no time, Del Toro could have an extra minute today.

Also while he proved to be strong enough to win (having raced the final from the front before obviously helped him) he never exactly looked in complete control. If he had worked and lost, he would have looked like a Trek rider.

Regardless of whether he is or isn't which we can disagree on that doesn’t change the point. Why didn’t Del Toro deserve to win the stage?

That was the point. I’m glad Van Aert won; he deserves it too, after his struggles glad for him! But my point was that saying Del Toro didn’t deserve it is hard to take serious at that point

Completely idiotic from Lidl Trek. Ciccone could have had good chance winning the stage if they had ridden it in a clever way. I understand that they want Vacek to have some success given his shape and his great work for Pedersen, but that shouldn't be at the cost of making awful racing decisions.

kept saying WVA isn't washed, and needed to grind himself into shape through racing, racing, racing. The way he did last year in the vuelta. So happy he got his first victory in, and completed the trilogy of a stage win in all GT. I still think WVA should refocus on tough 1 week stage races instead of 1 day races, but this was cathartic for WVA.
