Fabulous stage. Lots of great battles & individual efforts. It might be my eyes, but I checked the official stage listing and only counted seven Saxo riders. Hernandez and Navarro were only twenty minutes back, but a couple of guys were in 40 minute territory.

All 9 are in.

So is that everyone in now?

I guess so. I think we lost Lancaster, Oroz Ugalde, Rabon, Cardoso, Marzano, Pozzovivo and Hunter today. Hunter did not start, all the others abandoned.

Did you see how Rujano was drilling it in Fedaia?? and Still finishing 6th and making his way in the top 10?
And whose fault is it that Rujano decided to wh*re himself out?

How technical is the Finestre descent? And is it long enough for Nibbles to perhaps get a decent headstart on Scarponi?
It's where Savoldelli famously secured his Giro win, after losing a couple of minutes uphill. But it's not awfully technical, he was just awfully good.

I think they all came in, Morkov being the last one.

That might be a bit unfair. He might have thought it was the right thing to do for his own prospects of a podium finish at the end of the Giro.

Is a nice descent... He could do a Falco there... But I think that Il Falco is a bit better than Nibs...

I think veo7 - Spanish channel will be recapping the previous 15 stages during the rest day tomorow.

Veo7 commentator said today: "Pantani won the last time trial on a Tour, can't remember the year"

Of course he can't remember, it never happened. He did a good time trial in 1998, that's all.

It is only an 11k descent and then the finish of the stage is an almost 10k climb up to Sestriere. I don't see Scarponi letting any gap forming there.

Contador has been the only one who has been consistent at all mountain stages this Giro.

Every climber who finished close to him in a mountain stage has cracked the other day so far.

I was only referring to the people who thought that Contador was taking it easy yesterday.
The guy is the best of all of them, but he certainly is working hard for it. He isn't saving energy, that's for sure.

Contador wasn't taking it easy yesterday, but he was obviously afraid of the tiffosi. One of them even tried to hit him on Zoncolan. His racing style was weird on the Zoncolan, hard to deny that one. Can be explained by the angry tifosi though. Totally classless these Italian fans the last 2 days.

Kind of disappointed with the time loss of Anton, seems he still cannot handle two days like this in a row. Still, it is sort of the return of the climber that can beat anyone on one day and then loses al GC hopes in the next one. We didn't have them around for some time.

I enjoyed discussing whether he was the next climbing great with over excited Australians in January.

I wouldn't pay much attention to his time on a stage when he's a helper, 2-3 years out of his development before he can even be considered to be a chance to be a GT rider.

That said, I don't rate him as a GT prospect. :)

I was 100% sura that he will crack today, he emptied his tank yesterday.

He still could react to Contador quite easily when Contador attacked on top of the Cima Coppi. After that, it just seemed over, but then he didn't totally bonk either.
