Non-asphalt section

Following the Rai Sport 1 commentators early I think I learnt that the non-asphalt part of the road this year is made of different stuff - compressed pebble/stones (not the usual stirrato) - which should mean that those (like Evans) who stand up out of the saddle will still get decent traction - unlike last time.

You and your knowledge about climbing by bike are laughable...
Like I said... What's happened to him on Zoncolan ?! ;)

So your saying cadel should have won 2 tours but he rides out of his saddle so he lost them both?

Cadel has always ridden the same way, the only other stage with gravel he won so please go watch some baseball or something.

Danny Boy Martin mashing up the final pitches...

And he just misses Szmyd's time! Ah well. Still two great days in a row for Dan.

For a Zen Master you´re quite intemperate. I dunno why he climbed the Zoncolan out of the saddle but I have seem him sitting a lot when climbing at other times this GIro so it is not like he can´t. Ithink he is probably capable of adapting..

Wasn't there something said like he couldn't use all his gears for some reason ie. im guessing his derailler was screwing up or something like that.

Well im sure Auscycle will know

He needed to ride out the saddle to matched Basso. Evans said in his blog that they were unable to get a 29 sprocket working correctly, where as the Liquigas mechanics did. Apparently he will be riding a 29 as well today

With the gearing, all the serious guys rode 'compact' crank sets, usually a 34 in front from what saw. I had a bit of trouble with the large spacing between the gears. Not something that is usually a problem climbing. With yesterday's effort in the legs, I rode a big larger gear than preferred. Not the right way, but when it's the only way..... Second for me today.

Exactly, he must ride 20+% sections ( gravel or asphalt whatever ) smooth in the saddle

No, what I meant was smoother styles must be more efficient for climbing in general, you would think. I didn't accept the point about traction. However the significance of style is questionable when two of the best climbers, who were mentioned, both get out of the saddle.

Anyway, back to the race.

The road surface will have to deteriorate a little by the end; what about 150 riders plus the same amount of support motorbikes plus 50 media bikes will have to do something to the gravel parts.
