Petacchi covered him but he was about a bike length ahead at the time, I don't think he did anything wrong to be honest.

I think Cavendish is rightly complaining here.

This is why Ale-Jet is a veteran. Did he shut Cavendish off? Sure. He wouldn't have won any other way, so he may as well just push it a little.

Ale went left and then right but it wasn't particularly fast or dangerous.

Apollonio got 6th without any lead-out from Sky, that's pretty good.

This. He launched off Cav's wheel and won fair and square.

WTF is Cav whining about? That was far from being an unfair sprint. He didn't have the legs. Period. He may want to go back and look at videos of his sprints in the past.

Pettachi changed direction 3 times, each time only to block.

It'll stand though, that's sprinting.
As much as I dislike Cav, Peta should be relegated.

I think petacchi definently tried to block him a couple of times, nothing sevre, but I notice he does this a lot and gets away with it, so maybe he will get away with it here too.. Maybe he is working within the rules though I dont know..

bahhh i had a quid of ferrari to get in the top 3 would have won 9 pounds if he was one place higher, maybe if ale jet gets relegated I will still get me money

I don't think that Cav has much of a beef about the sprint. Petacchi may not have maintained straight lines throughout, but he went around Renshaw and cut back in. At that speed, he slid over a little too far, but looked like he straightened it out right away.

I'll be amazed if an Italian race jury takes a win away from Petacchi on such scant evidence.

Don't care much for Cav but if he had just done what Ale-Jet had done plenty would be complaining.

I counted at least two separate changes of direction by Petacchi. One is understandable and perhaps given he was about a bike length clear justifiable, the second in my opinion constituted an irregular sprint.

Having said that go Ale-Jet!!
