Where did you see that?

Don't know where he saw it, but André Meganck's twitter confirms it. Garzelli and Tondo both DNF. And André is rarely to never wrong.

to be fair to chris, there were tv pics of him early in the stage looking absolutely screwed, and he was down as a retirment on one of the text feeds prior to actually retiring. sounds like if you are going to hang onto a bike a police bike wouldnt be most subtle thing to hang onto.

update on the weather from twitter.
@EuroHoody Just drove over Gavia; 4C, rain, 6ft snowdrifts on side
of road - the descent is harrowing, they've installed nets to catch crashing riders

that's insane.

Bonnet DNF. They're dropping faster than flies now. And right before Vino's attack Graham Watson said this on twitter:

Word in the peloton is that Vinokourov traded with Liquigas to win today's stage and not help Evans & Arroyo chase yesterday - let's see..

Carnage out there. Cunego, Pinotti and Sastre are going for broke with a big stage-long move.

If Evans, Porte & Vino decend down to this group while leakygas take the foot off the pedal waiting for basso this could bring another big twist to the Giro.

wow. If Vino can catch up to Sastre/Cunego/Pinotti those guys will take 2 minutes out on the downhill from the Maglia Rosa group.

Vino is now in the counter attack at. 1'07" Basso at almost 2 minutes from the leafers, what will happen in this stage? Basso losing the pink? Crazy giro indeed

Really how can it happen that Sastre again gets a clear ride from the peleton? And Vino as well

It's very early in the stage and Liquigas has a very strong team.

Look at all the snow. The sun is shining too. It'll be a wet downhill. Not looking good for Basso.

Two minutes isn't a big gap. Liquigas probably won't let it get too big.
