Spain had this problem in 2017, the only stage winner and only rider they had in the top 10 of the Vuelta was 35 years old and about to retire. The following year, Mas emerged.

It's still a drop for both nations. I know different era but in early to mid 2000, you had Heras, Beloki, Sastre, Mancebo, Sevilla, and then Basso, Simoni, Garzelli, Savoldelli for Italy.

Both nations now are a lot worse at the top GC level

Rohan is setting a pace he is comfortable with, it's a trap, Ineos will be delighted if this comes down to a sprint, win or lose, the gap to pink is even coming down so it can't be that hard.

Dennis could be Taos savior here. If he doesnt lose much, he can still do it tomorrow with a better TT.

Im on the Hindley bandwagon though.

Whats up with Tao helmet btw, between helmet and eyes are a good 20cm forehead. Is he the OG fivehead and we need to make more memes about him or is he hust wearing his helmet roglic ITT-style

Agree, they are playing this very well if they can keep Dennis around most of the climb and Tao doesn't go too deep.
