maltiv said:I'm wondering what would happen if for example Wegmann is at the front solo. Would any team even try to chase him back, or would they allow him the victory?
Benotti69 said:Leopard Trek had their day today and i dont mean that in a bad sense. Today was special and right and done fantastically and a tribute to the sport and the memory of Wouter. Tomorrow it is back to business. No doubt some will not give chase but others will as they have lives to lead, careers to manage etc...so i expect it to be business full steam ahead.

But if a Leopard guy is caught literally in the last couple of hundred metres, I would really like to see somebody play Jalabert.
Aye, you got thread-jacked.Johnalex13 said:My apologies. I didn't realize it would become the 'official' thread.
If an admin can then that would be great.
As far as Leopard ....I am a huge Rohregger fan. I wonder if he would be up for this!

Was planning to do that after dinner, and once folk had posted the other missing bits, so I didn't need to hunt around myself. Been a long couple of days.
Anyway, all sorted now, I hope.

I hope someone of Leopard will win, but can't see who. Unless they decided to retire now?

Something like that would be nice.

luckyboy said:Yeah I think you'd have to be pretty cold-hearted to take the win ahead of someone from Leopard if they had carried on.
UpTheRoad said:I just read that they will continue with the race.

I think it was Andrea Ferrigato chasing Armstrong in that stage in the 1995 Tour. Later he said something along the lines of "I am a professional cyclist, my head was telling me I have to do my best for my team, and it would have been the biggest victory of my career, but my heart was telling me I couldn't take that victory away from him". In the end, I suppose he was content that he didn't have the legs to contest the victory.luckyboy said:Yeah I think you'd have to be pretty cold-hearted to take the win ahead of someone from Leopard if they had carried on.

Apparently, Leopard-Trek is going to leave the Giro, despite the earlier link indicating otherwise.
UpTheRoad said:I disagree. The Leopard guys probably wouldn't want a win given to them, despite the circumstances. Hinault would also be screaming "no gifts" in French.
If a Leopard-Trek guy was working with a top GC contender who broke free, that's different. The time gain would be weighted/compared vs. the stage win, but that is likely the one situation where the win should/could be gifted.
The race is on after the sad, but brief hiatus.
