I will back up Galic here and put in my say. I watched both, but I was mainly watching the F1. Of course someone will spill the beans. I mean, why wouldn't you watch the F1 instead of watching middle of a stage on cycling. Nothing exciting happens in the middle of a stage.

Fact is, someone was always going to say who won. You can't prevent it.

Plus the winner had it in the bag before the race started. Only a mechanical would stop him on a circuit like Monaco.

Honestly having a go at him what do you hope to achieve? He'll probably come back and let it slip with jest who wins in a fortnight. Bright move.

Forums are a community. I would hope members of this community would have enough respect for each other not to spoil stuff when it is obvious people dont want to get spoiled. Respect others and you shall be respected in return; but the opposite is equally true.

Some people want to make this a spoiler free zone. I'm fully supportive of their wishes in this regard. I don't see why not posting spoilers is so difficult for people.

No ACF94 thought it was just a hype and didn't expect Mollema to actually perform ;)

No problem though. It's just a running gag on this forum, he doesn't mean that seriously. :D

Blimey, thread already unstuck? Going to get messy around here, this week.
Predictably, no real fireworks today. Glad some of the break survived.
Not a fan of the Terminillo.

Vino is certainly holding himself well.
I also thought basso looked not to shabby today.

they all seemed exhausted today, shame we didn't have a steeper MTF, that would have been interesting.

They really did, I expect some relaxed racing in the coming stages. They still have 7 successive stages to go.

**** who cares who won the F1? I know, people on F1 forums. I don't care if it's Roller Derby, Curling, AFL, or Goblin Knitting, if it doesn't involve people riding bicycles and it isn't happening between the two towns in the name of the thread, TAKE IT TO THE CAFE!

FFS!

Anyway, awesome win by CA Sorensen. Had hoped to see a bit more of a dig by Cunego. Interesting to see that Androni Giocattoli were the only team with two riders in the GC group other than Liquigas, maybe BMC's lack of strength won't be as decisive as it could have been. Although in the fog and with the pixels of the Gazetta stream I kept think Vino was in a Lampre kit.

My new pet theory is Cudles swapped to BMC because he decided if he wasn't going to get support from his teammates he'd like to be on a team where DNF'ing is encouraged so there's more room on the bus...

Agree entirely. Etiquette is important. My point is that unless you ask nicely first time and put a :D, you are opening the door for a flaming by taking the high and mighty stance from the start and acting hurt. It is one F1 race and that is nothing. F1 is my favourite sport to give you some perspective. Sportzchic commented yesterday innocently and copped quite a lot of flack. She didn't even realise how bad it was. It was only qualifying.

The most obvious reason people drop spoilers is because they missed the request not to and in the case of the F1 and Webber it was likely the association with Aussie success in the focus of this thread. They are loosely associated, hence why I was trying to hint people should expect it. I do. Ask the person politely if they post outside forum etiquette or risk them doing it again in jest.

Good stage in the Giro, much calmer than the first 7 days. Where the hell is Sastre now? I'm changing my GC. I originally had Sastre, Evans and Pellizotti followed by Basso. Subbed in Vino for Pelli and now looks like I can just knock Carlos off all together. I reckon Cunego for 5th and Gerdemann should make the top 10. Nibali, Garzelli and Scarponi in the mix as well. Even Contador would struggle to make up Sastre's deficit.

I dropped a message to ACF94 halfway through the thread hinting at the F1. I didn't want to upset people. Hadn't read the earlier pages (missed the debacle) because I was watching the F1. That was appropriate. Like the night before, FA Cup or Giro. FA Cup is what I watch every year. I found it hard to watch a Live feed on my laptop and watch the TV at the same time, so I prioritised and watched an upload on YouTube for the Giro. Just like I find it hard to watch a Live feed and type on a forum. Honestly don't know how people here do it, or why, but good for everyone who does. It is not easy to focus on both.

I guess the point is that next F1 round in two weeks (I think) on the Giro's final stage, people can expect someone to drop a hint of who wins in the thread. Be prepared for it guys and girls when multiple events are on at the same time. Oh and if Mark Webber wins again and Cadel wins the Giro I suggest you all prepare for a lot of whoha and ACF94 jibes.

There are none that are interesting. That is saying something, unless round the world sailing is your thing. Come to think of it, there was water in the Netherlands and coastline....:D::rolleyes:

Last comment on the F1 from me. What happened during the last few years to the starting times for races in Australia, Singapore, Japan, China, Malaysia, etc? They were delayed and put back in those countries so you and your European cohorts can get prime viewing time. What happened today? Sunday midday to afternoon, typical rest day in the western world and people still whine. You have it sweet. You get the better coverage and viewing time and it still isn't good enough. Yes you have to choose, but how hard is it to flip between channels? I've been following F1 for ages and Monaco is boring as all hell. The race winner is set before the race begins barring rain or mechanical faults.

Do you wonder why it was rubbed in? FFS an Aussie won the race and this forum is littered with Aussies and the event many here chose to watch over the F1 just happened to have back to back Aussie winners. Another win for an Aussie. He just let it slip....oops. What did you expect? Someone was always going to drop the bombshell. That was obvious, but once again another European acts all hurt.

Get over yourself and come down from the Scottish Highlands. Did you vote for Brown as well like the rest of the intelligensia in Scotland? Plenty of the guys here were pretty mean to Sportzchic yesterday and are acting all high and mighty. Honestly those copping it had it coming on this one because of their angression yesterday. People bit and Davis bit them back harder. It is a forum...results are leaked all the time. I've lost count of the spoilers I've seen dropped simply because of the time overlap. I don't cry, I know it is going to happen. Your not very bright if you didn't expect this could happen on this thread. There was a reason people were told by Davis to HTFU. He is an Aussie and people were acting like soft c*&ks. As he said, make your choice on what to watch and deal with it. The event timing favours you guys so you have little to really complain about.

Honestly having a go at him what do you hope to achieve? He'll probably come back and let it slip with jest who wins in a fortnight. Bright move.

Read the above. Seems you have a lot of (totally unrelated) issues. You poor Ozzies. Pathetic, but not out of character I guess.

I had one real problem this weekend. Made my case. I'm a firm believer that just because you can be an inconsiderate **** online doesn't mean you have to be. Hoped that by pointing it out yesterday "those that are serious enough about this sport and follow these threads" (see, we all can play that game) would get the hint for race day. Some just can't get over themselves it seems. And some defend their young.

I'll ignore your issues with planet Earth vs Oz. You're last point is utterly mute. He stepped over the line and kept piling it on with personal insults after it. He has had a slap on his wrist, so I think when he comes back in vitriol, it will be the last time he does it.

Wish the no-other-event-spoilers was made clearer, but seems I have to suffer those that are just incapable of letting fellow sports fans have a similar experience at a time when it suits them or is forced upon them.

If he wants to shout from an F1 rooftop, join an F1 forum. Keep your bloody mouth shut in a Stage 8 Giro thread.

Made an official suggestion in the suggestion thread to lift this no-spoiler thing from common courtesy to a proper rule with clear and harsh consequences.

Good night.

Anything to do with people driving cars--fast, slow, in circles, in traffic, in cities, in the country--is boring. This is a bike racing forum. Go bicker about this nonsense somewhere else.

The idea is actually quite entertaining, a post titled "Senna wins in Turkey" just for the hell of it although I doubt anyone would fall for that.

In all honesty though, I had no intentions of "spoiling" the race for anyone. Until HD came in for myself mid last year I was watching F1 on a 1-2hr delay, during that time I simply did not go on a computer so I could avoid any chance of seeing the result.

As another example, watching our biggest sport "Aussie Rules" means a 30min delayed telecast before most games, you learn quite quickly if it means that much to you to lock yourself away from outside media sources (Radio, other channels, the net, etc).

I am of the opinion if you venture onto any forums after a sporting event you want to watch is complete then you do so at your own risk. Obviously if I knew the amount of people who were skipping Monaco, the holy grail of F1 races to watch the flat section of a generally boring stage tonight I would not have mentioned who won.

I assumed any half regular F1 viewer would never skip Monaco, I consider it a sin to miss this race as winning this race is the next best thing to winning the championship. As a result I came on here feeling quite good about the F1 and was hoping for the trend to continue into the Giro.

If your honestly wondering why I didn't apologize it is quite simple really. The 1st reply I got was someone acting like an 8 year old kid who had just had his candy stolen.

If it wasn't for this I'd have had no problem with apologizing for letting it slip but if someone is going to cry about it rather then speak rationally about it like the 2nd poster who kindly asked me to remove it then they need to harden up and stop acting like a baby.

Of course then 5-6 more people started attacking me over it even after I edited it out. if people want to have a go at me I have no problem with stirring them up just for the hell of it.

Anyways I apologize for spoiling the result for whoever seen my original post in the whole 2mins it said it for. for those who seen it quoted well that really isn't my fault now is it.
