Actually dude I asked the questions about Scotland and the British election to see how bright you really are. Scottish geographic voting zones are basically sheep and the base support for New Labor (who are proven retards). Good indicator on how insightful a person really is and their ability to analyse a situation, hence ask the question I did. Go read Davis_123 reply to me. He confirmed every assumption I made about the whole incident. Someone over reacted and lost it and then others jumped on board. As I pointed out he naturally had every reason to bite back and his reply to me confirmed that was his motive. As I said, I wanted to know how bright you really are... because if one follows all the stereotypes they aren't in your favour being a Dutchman living in Scotland (non pun or stereotyping intended because it is a weird combination). Look at what I said about broadcasting and F1 in Monaco. As far as base assumptions go, you and others, made all the wrong ones. A comment was to be expected. Guess you know better for next time. Dito to Davis as well.

Davis really did get you riled up didn't he. Look at what he said...soft, because your reaction and anger suggests he had a point. As I pointed out, if he did not read yesterdays thread, which is an obvious assumption because people do have lives outside of cycling, then the first response to him needs to be calm because it is probable one could have missed the request made. Put together what he said in his reply to me and look at the question I asked. What did people expect other than a flaming after carrying on like children? Repeating the theme again...you made all the wrong assumptions and normally you don't. Social interactions mustn't be your thing. No biggie.

Next time, can someone ask nicely once and then go to town if the culprit plays the douchebag card in their response, but not before.

I am of the opinion if you venture onto any forums after a sporting event you want to watch is complete then you do so at your own risk.

Here's the dirty little secret: your opinion matters not.

You are posting on a forum with rules. You broke one of the big don'ts. And instead of saying "whoops+edit+sorry", you start with "edit+insult" (breaking rule #2). You start the avalanche (including quotes), you swallow. You don't start to kick around.

You are still not getting that people have lives/routines/tv-schedules that are different from yours, for very good reasons. And that the no-spoilers rule is here for that same very good reason.

We want to give other the opportunity to enjoy themselves too, not ruin it.

You're opinion about people's inability to grasp that there are always people like you who simply-don't-get-it means nada.

There are a ton of mayor sport events happening all the time, and as a rule, most of us have the capacity to contain ourselves for the benefit of the enjoyment of others. All the time. Consistently.

I hope you pick up that skill soon.

If it didn't rain it wouldn't have gotten "universal acclaim" as you put it.

I disagree, even without the mud, white gravel roads would really spice up the mix.

Try it on skinny tyres at 40kmh and you'll see how tricky they are.

Not just the unpredictability of adhesion to the surface, but the gravel flicked into your eyes, and derailleurs, lock-ups when braking, punctures galore, back-wheel-spin whilst climbing, and motos throwing up dust.

It doesn't have to be cyclocross, just the slight change of surface would be a wonderful innovation for a stage of the TdF.

Sadly, can't see it happening though; look how the Teams squealed when briefly deprived of their radios in 2009.

You can be certain the "softies" racing in California today are very glad they missed the Giro.

But that wasn't a real climb in relation to others in the race. I thought he might be able to hang today better than that. I didn't expect a win or even for him to be in the front group, but I expected he could do as well as Wigans...guess not.

The Eurosport crew addressed that question a couple of days ago, and they said that when it was done without the canned sound, it looked weirdly odd, it just didn't "feel" right. It needed the ambient (canned) sound to make it appear more normal to us. Ever since, they have added it.

Our brains are funny like that. We usually don't notice ambient sounds as we tend to filter them out, but we miss them when they are gone, but are expected. If you ever watched a poorly dubbed movie that replaced speech and sounds, your head will probably be telling you that something just "ain't quite right" and the movie will feel oddly flat.

The volume level is kinda important to me. There is probably a magic formula somewhere that dictates how loud it can be before appreciates flips into too irritating (for too many people). If it gets to you now, it seems you are in the unfortunate minority.

So it's not really there to remind us, but when done right, to stop us from reminding us. Most of us, that is.

Ha, I am always in a minority... and I particularily loath helicopters (I live in the country along what happens to have become a helo pilot navigation training route!!)

I actually have no problem with out of synch dubbed movies, so maybe my mind doesn't work in the same way as those of the Eurosport crew. The thing is, minds are (or should be) very adaptable and although initially it feels weird to them to watch aerial shots of the bike race without hearing blade flap, if they persisited for a couple of stages I expect that they would no longer be bothered by the lack of flap. Or not. But it sounds like the issue is settled and I will just have to live with it?
