This is Saint-Amand-Monrond déjà vu, only Porte didn't ever do anything to deserve this, and sprinter's teams are to blame. I bet Contador doesn't find this right himself.

Yes, let's be happy Porte lost time, regardless the likely unfairness in it. Talk about hatred clouded judgement.

Nice to see you celebrating your favourite cyclist's rivals' bad luck. Hope you're equally happy when Contador gets his piece of bad luck

I'd rather no favourite have bad luck to be honest, at least the tough stages are still to come. Sky will have to step up now.

Why do you assume he is a Contador fan? ;)

Rough day for Richie. Even on a good day, 47" is a big chunk of what he could hope to grab on the TT. His chase back was unimpressive as well. Does anyone believe he can take back 1 minute plus on Contador in the TT? And does anyone believe he can drop Bert or Aru on the climbs?

I'll tell you what, Contador and Aru makee the show, they attack each other, they keep the interest vivid. Porte wheelsucks. Now that he has lost time he'll be forced to attack so this is only going to improve the entertainment.

When has a sprint team ever called off the chase for a GC guy? Porte was unlucky, but there is no unfairness about this.

I think that when a rider punture in the last 10 km of a flat stage, he must take in the GC half time he lost at the end

He didn't lose the time because of a mechanical, he lost the time because he didn't have a teammate alongside him to give up his bike. This time loss was entirely avoidable.

I do recall Sky hammering on the front when the yellow jersey wearing Valverde took a fall. It's called karma. Of course you being the most impartial person in the cn forum, wouldn't see that as unfair or unsportsmanlike.

Sorry, what is unfair? Is the peloton supposed to wait not only for the leader (I would not expect them to in this situation) but every possible GC contender? That can't be it, so I don't get what's unfair.

How is the saint armand-montrond comparable? Tinkoff-Saxo outsmarted SKY - that had nothing to with bad luck (except for Valverde ofc). Also, it's pretty common in modern cycling to start the lead out (or team trains) from far out - with the amount of flat stages, it's no wonder the sprinter's teams wants to gain points when they can, including positioning their sprinter in the best position.

Sprinters' teams had absolutely nothing to gain, stage win was out of reach and they knew it. You could say they were aiming to get the remaining points on the line, but no one starts a leadout that far from the finish.

I don't blame Sky in that particular situation. Valverde was wearing the red jersey that day :p :D

The bunch finished 18 seconds behind the break. If Marangoni hadn't attacked and the four started looking at each other it's conceivable that they could have been caught.

seems henao did a lot better than your friend craddock. I guess it's the last time you open your mouth with claims like these

Hmmmm....can anyone confirm it was a mechanical, or did Richie just crack? I can't seriously believe he was dropped from the peloton.

It has to be a mechanical. I mean, otherwise he is sick big time.

I agree. No way he was just dropped, unless, as you said, he's sick.
or he is back to pre sky form ;)
