Got a TdF Question? Post it here

Got a question about ANYTHING to do with the Tour?
Jersey winners, riders, teams, form, tactics, sprinters, history, chain mechanics, head sizes, etc...
Start asking away here so we don't end up with dozens of threads copying each other.

I think we need to keep bumping this thread so it stays at the top. Or sticky.

Real Question: How many stages will end up in a mass sprint finish?

How many stages will the French win? With more then double the amount of riders from any other country but Spain how will they fair? The Tour start list shows 44 French riders Spain 26 followed by Belgium 15 on down the list.

Too many. I was filling out the Foxy brown game where you can only choose each person to win 3 stages.

My only other experience was in the Giro where I used up Cav and had Pettachi once so expected to be able to comfortably choose which stages will suit Cav the most.

However there were just so many stages where sprint was a certainty. I got through all of Cav, all of Farrar and even started choosing breakaway riders as I couldnt go for these ones any more.

I'm thinking 5-6. Perhaps more if the peloton can pull back breaks in the late stage hills, but those won't be won Cav.

To answer my own question, I see stages 3, 5, 7, 11, 15, 21 and maybe 10 being Cav and Farrar sprints w/ 1 and 6 maybe being Thor stages.

Keep bumping this thread where everyone can see it!!!

Another question:
Are there any stages where a large group of riders could be outside the Time Limit?
I think Stage 14 could cause problems.

:confused:I have a question regarding our live feed in the US...
every year I am stuck watching Versus...now wondering if my morning live feed will be totally restricted to either pay for NBC/Vs or if we will be able to get any un-georestricted alternative....

I've been all over steephill.tv and cyclingfans.com and I am still not sure....
I would so love to avoid all the vs BS and ads but ...

Has Thor Hushovd ever won a stage with a 5% gradient (or greater) for the last km?
(In any race, not just the TDF)

The stage into Barcelona in 2009 must fit the bill. I can't find details to confirm that though.

I would say, that stage 18 could perhaps see a few riders finish outside of the time limit.

If the leaders want a fast pace on the Col Agnel, not exspecting them going themselves before the Col d'Izoard, then the heavies could struggle.

If they get dropped earlie, then they have Agnel, d'Izoard and the Galibier left.

Question: Who in the peleton will target the KOM jersey from day one.

Not as steep and long as I remember then. David Millar dying on the lower slopes probably made it look harder.

How many [bidons]/[tubes]/[chains]/[etc] do teams have for the duration of the tour de france?

What are the logistics of getting food from market-to-table on a daily basis to feed the teams?

How many police officers (and of what nations?) are on duty to ensure a smooth TdF?

How many motards (including press, neutral mechanics, timers, police etc) are riding each stage with the cyclists?

What are the names of all the team bus drivers?

Isn't it time to start a Vuelta preview thread? It's only two more months!

Do you have a list of the dual carriageways and industrial estates on the route this year?

Let's not pretend that the Vuelta is wonderful. Sometimes it is, but often it's as dull as dull can be.

Here's a question. Who will 'win' the Lantern Rouge?

Malori of Lampre won last year, but I can see some competition from some of the HTC boys - Bak, Pate, Eisel, maybe even Cavendish.
