"Prometheus" looks great - but what trailer for a Ridley Scott film does not? :)) It's on my list for sure.

Thanks.

"Once Upon a Time in the West" - Sergio Leone's masterpiece. Each of the 4 main characters has its own theme.

Here is Jill's theme - she (played by Cladia Cardinale) arrives by train from New Orleans and no one meets her - they have all been murdered. She waits a while ... and then, as her theme begins, and inspired by a watch and a clock, she ... she gives birth to herself, as the camera sores over the rooftop to reveal the burgeoning town and Jill's first steps to becoming ... MOTHER OF THE WEST ... and gloriously melancholy music by Ennio Morricone.

Watch how the camera grows wings and soars along with the music, with Jill's journey - the rooftop shot @ about 3:00 is pure and grand cinema. And listen!

A MUST SEE!

I admit it - "Once Upon a Time" holds special places in my heart and mind.

Here is Jill's theme done 35 years later, live in Cortona Italy city square, with Andre Rieu and Carla Maffioletti. Notice how everything, everything is stunning - the musicians, the clothing, the jewelry, the sets, the music stands, the lighting, the camera, the performances (Maffiolett!!!!!), the camera. The music!

blade, Nice. Great films! Thanks.

BTW - I saw "Sorcerer" the other day. Fine film and Roy is excellent. I didn't know that it is a remake of "Wages of Fear." Thanks again.

Parts of Empire of the Sun are just astounding. And other parts...not much so.

The Prometheus trailer looks too clean to me, too slick. The Alien universe I remember was incredibly inhospitable, just gritty, nasty, desolate. Not just the planet, even the Nostromo was like this.

This new movie looks more like Avatar. :(

"Crying," by Roy Orbison, with k.d. lang.

I know it's not technically cinema, but it is filmed wonderfully in B+W. The tune is stunningly human, the lyrics movingly simple and the two performances ... perfect. Their voices seem almost to blend together, overlap and become the same at times. Roy plays an understated guitar and k.d.'s body "lang"-uage adds her own sense of grief to this nugget of gold, one of the best duets in pop music, imho:

"Bond. James Bond." "Casino Royale."

Sean Connery is replaced with Daniel Craig.

"Vodka martini, shaken not stirred" is replaced with this, a Vesper martini (pardon the cut to Bond's comment on the drink):

"Children of Men" - no one is being born. There are no pregnancies, no children. For 18 years! But here, in a firefight, in a decayed, battle-ridden building, a child is born. The sound of the child's cries brings a strange calm over civilians, soldiers ... and a temporary cease-fire ensues. Very temporary. Almost religious:
