That's one of my favorite scenes, too, even if it's historically inaccurate. From one of my favorite movies.

A woman warrior once more. This time, a musical warrior in “Diva” (1981) – a “new new wave” crime thriller/mystery romance about an opera singer who refuses to record, interlaced with a murdered corruption whistle-blower.

The film is a visual treat … and a sonic one. Here, in the opening, the singer gives a live performance that is surreptitiously recorded by a devout fan. Note the simple elegance of the singer and her surroundings, her lovely voice and choice of aria, and the tension subtly created by the panning camera – a Hitchcockian homage: Easily spot some bad guys at about 1:05 and 2:40 … and oh, that music:

A few short films from a great filmmaker who i recently had the privilege of meeting: Tropfest winner Jason van Genderen Link to his site

Mankind is no island - Tropfest 2008 winner...shot entirely on cell phone

Design Crimes - Tropfest finalist - Mockumentary on policing 'design crimes'

Pearls - Film shot from the perspective of the homeless on the streets on Sydney and also in the states...maybe NY i think

But really good guy to meet, he has basically been labelled a 'pocket Filmmaker' for his sucesses shooting on cell phones and iphones etc

More beasts – this time from “Bram Stoker’s Dracula” (1992).

Gary Oldman is magnificent as Dracula and his performance is fortified by the wooden Keanu Reeves, whose laughable performance shows just how fine Oldman is.

The lighting and shadows in Coppola’s film are extraordinary, as the nightmare deepens in this scene, which I dub The Shaving Cut - "What sweet music ...":

Another beast - a real, natural beast, a jaguar. Or, as a Mayan in "Apocalypto" would say... balam.

A warrior/hunter temporarily escapes his captors by climbing a tree. He is on a branch with ... a baby jaguar. Guess who is nearby ... the parent.

The grown balam chases the warrior, as his adversaries chase him too. Luckily for our warrior, one of his chasers is intercepted by the jaguar. Be warned, jaguars have powerful jaws and kill by biting the head, hoping to pierce the skull or find an eye socket. Here, the jaguar rips the man's face:

I'm gonna go ahead and repost this, since my last post apparently vanished into thin air (surely a mod wouldn't delete a post with no notice, based on the whims of a thread starter? -- I mean, this is a public forum, right, not someone's personal film blog?)

This scene is from A Serious Man, superb storytelling: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YUTyEEiulQk

One of the cleverest Coen brothers films, definitely worth watching.

Here's part of the costume shop scene from Eyes Wide shut, couldn't find the whole scene: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eDKiyehma28

Fantastic film, very creepy at times, shame Kubrick didn't get to make any more.
