It is a pretty hard question. I wouldn't know who she was talking about. Had it been about who the most or the least French guy on the team was, we would at least be able to exclude a few of them.

Least French guy? I'd say Scotson. Don't think he's very French...
Or are we ranking the Frenchness of the French riders on the team?

Right, here we go! This is the Frenchness Ranking of the Groupama FDJ team:

French guys in some random unsorted order.
Swiss guys, with Reichenbach being the most French.
Duchesne. Yes, I'm ranking him above some of the Europeans, because he's from Quebec!
Guarnieri.
Geniets.
Dutch guys.
Stewart.
Ludvigsson.
Valter.
Konovalovas.
Scotson.

Please don't take my word for it.

This is a poor ranking.

French guys with the French guys.
Balmer with the other Swiss guys.
Germani joins Guarnieri.
Van Den Berg joins his brother and Sinkeldam.
Askey and Pidcock joins Stewart.
Ärm
Pithie and Thompson.

I think, you should do the required research and then get back to us. Seems like a possible discussion to have during one of the flat Tour stages.

But an obvious flaw is that Küng and Lienhard are more French than Duchesne following your ranking, and that can't be right.

I didn't wanna split up the Swiss Gang! Though, I did point out Reichenbach's slightly more Frenchiness than the others'.

But you were given the task to discover which of the riders was the most French and then you come up with a list where 16 people are tied for first...

I'd pick Démare, he most often rides around draped in a French flag.

I also think Démare, because the Frenchiest French are from Île-de-France, but FDJ have no! rider from Paris, if I see that correctly. Beauvais is not that far away, though, the other riders have been born further away.
There's also the flag thing.
One aspect counting against Démare is that he doesn't look French at all to me. Who would you pick to play a typical Frenchmen in a film you're directing? I would go with Brunel or Pinot.
Pinot is also a known French denomination, so it must be:
1. Démare. 2. Pinot. 3. Brunel.

Simon Guglielmi has an Italian name so is onviously out of the running. William Bonnet seems quite English (the name).

Why Scotson the least French?

Based on his name he is probably of British descent, and at the very least, Australian culture was heavily influenced by the British culture, which was heavily influenced by the French culture due to the Norman invasion.

I think that makes him more French than Ludvigsson, Valter and Konovalovas.

I would probably rate Valter the least French because he is the only one on the list who doesn't speak an Indo-European language natively.
