Ha ha, I should delete my post.

You are not the only one. I looked at the startlist and expected him to crush the competition. Certainly did not expect Bettiol to be flying but if I remember it correctly he had a similar outlier performance a couple of years ago and won a short TT in the Etoile de Besseges. Maybe it´s just his time of the year.

Well, that was kind of a waste of time with the weather deciding everything, good thing it wasn't a longer TT. Happy for Bettiol though, he's had a lot of bad luck with illness and so on so I guess he kind of deserved a lucky break like this.

He has started the season quite well a couple of times. Most recently, before today, in 2020 and 2022.

He actually gave Lefevre a call after he got all mad on the newspapers and told him that it was just in the heat of the moment. Apparently Lefevre didn't say anything back and just that he had earned the win.

Bettiol can do well in the TDU - He should be fine on the Corkscrew, although I worry about him on stage 5 if it is ridden hard - If S.Yates has a good level then he can do damage on Corkscrew.

Bettiol always comes out of breaks like a mad man, true. But Jayco hold all the cards right now me thinks. Yates can go all in, with Bling riding the wheels. Menglers Hill isn't hard enough to drop Ewan, but with the uphill finish in Tanunda it could be an opportunity already to gain some precious boni.

Wait so Caleb Ewan is riding on an Australian national team and not as Lotto Destny? I guess not being a WT team anymore must suck.
PS: ON that note, this would be a proper national champs jersey for Jay Vine.

Does it suck, though? At least for the team? They don't have to pay to send a squad halfway around the world, while the UCI points that Ewan picks up still accrue to their account.

All of the WT teams have to send squads, and many will gain no significant points.

Good to see Bettiol back winning he really has a chance of winning the Tour itself. A few surprises including Johansen and a subpar Hayter.
