Hot racing coming up in Australia

His personal instagram page has his name as Tesfazion, being his own page I think it’s safe to say that it’s his name.
But transliteration is essentially a pronunciation guide rather than a correct spelling, and so is language-, as well as alphabet-dependent. Z is not pronounced in the same way in all European languages.
I'm guessing he is based in Italy: what transliterates to -azi- in Italian would probably transliterate to -atsi- in English. Neither is correct, and neither is wrong: it is a matter of perspective. One of them will, in time, become conventional (and that's all that spelling ever is really, tacit convention).

When Barale was picked out by the helicopter in a DSM Jersey, they popped up a caption of (presumably) her smiling proudly in her DSM jersey with her name, Italian flag and 'JAY' as her team.

Someone just isn't even trying.

I think they also tried putting Uttrup with Jayco. However, that is not nearly as severe a crime as trying to make her Australian.
Maybe the graphic team initially just lists everyone as Australian, riding for Jayco...

A bit surprised none of the previews for the race named her as a top favourite, the stage designs should suit her very well if she has found an early season form. We’ll see if the climbing legs are there tomorrow.

Well the assumption would have been she was there to support Grace for the win, so I'm sure most discounted it as a possibility,

I noted in FDJs race preview they went to defend their title as they called it,and CUL has seemed to be more confident/happy of late, so her training numbers must be good and it seemed more like she would be FDJs best chance for a win.

But then where does that leave Grace ?

Brown lost time today, but she and Muzic can still be used in attacking roles tomorrow. CUL will probably be benefit from a more tactical race, while Gigante probably has to go early like she did 3 years ago.

Yes, a quick google search leads me to believe that there's no universally accepted romanization standard of the Geʽez script, which is utilized by the Tigrinya language among others.

Even when there are standardized ways of romanizing a non-latin script, they often differ between languages. How you romanize Russian or other Cyrillic script languages is different in Norwegian vs English, for example. In Norwegian you'd write Sjevtsjenko, while you'd write Shevchenko in English.

So your theory that the z in Tesfazion is based on an Italian way of writing is very plausible.

Del Toro not doing much to quash the hype when he podiums the first race he does in a course he's not really got any business being in the mix for.

Narvaez was in the main group at the WC's and looking sharp until he crashed, with how good he finished the season in Austria too he looks to have developed well, more to come this season I suspect.

Brown lost 35 seconds today so she is out of the running - Brown can have off-days off the bike as evidenced in the last 2 World's BUT yet she finished 2nd in the ITT on both occasions.

I believe her partner is Miles Scotson and she has spent the last few months in Australia.

I have a weird story which I haven’t found yet on CN news, in this forum, and not yet on other news pages, for example German radsportnews.com, to my big surprise.

Well, in the last days, there must have been a criterium race, or similar, maybe even a university race, in Australia.

I saw a news video now on German bild.de, that’s like yellow press in GB, for example. In this video, you see an Australian rider, that is Graeme Frislie, aged 24, soon. He‘s a CT rider, and apparently gets pushed intentionally into a female spectator, at tempo of circa 60. The rider cannot finish, and the spectator possibly got injured, maybe even badly.

Now I couldn’t believe my eyes, because the pushing rider apparently was a rider of Australian WT team, Jayco AlUla. They apparently have no devo team. The obvious Jayco rider was riding behind a teammate who looked very much like Caleb Ewan. Not 100% sure, but looks like him.

Bild.de explains that the apparent Jayco rider (only spoke of „the rider“ because Bild doesn’t know much about teams and riders, of course) almost lost balance because of Frislie, and took revenge on Frislie by pushing him into the spectators.

Last autumn van Gils (?) beat Bouglas (fist) because of Bouglas’ style of riding. This time, sadly a spectator was involved.

Have a look yourself:

"Well I declare, it was none other than Caleb Ewan!" The video is geo-restricted.

Thank you for the links, pastronef… :)

Well, I agree with Lukacs, „Hope all riders involved are okay.“… And I‘d like to add, I hope the spectator(s) involved are OK…

There was no yell, no time for a yell. But the incident looks really, really brutal.

Well: No yell, no shout, nothing. Hardly any media reaction, until now. Caleb Ewan DNS at TDU‘s unofficial opener criterium. No news of injuries. Lots of silence. Caleb uncertain for TDU.

So my questions: what the hell, in fact, happened there, happened in the meantime, and is happening now???…

That to me looks uncomfortably worrying… :(

absolutely, but we were talking about pre race predictions, and Grace was clearly as last years winner, installed as FDJs lead rider, yet we are here on the final stage and shes basically got to do the domestique role CUL was supposed to end up doing for her, if FDJ want to "defend the title".

and that kind of switcheroo in team dynamic can often be problematic.

Grace lost 35 seconds, but do we know why or how she lost that time ?
